Default Little+ vs Kronwall+

Here are the facts:
13 team roto league (keep 15 plus entire farm)
nightly roster moves - start 3C, 6W, 4D, 1G
stats - G, A, P, GWG, PPP, SHP, FW, PIM, S, S%, +/- (skaters)
W, S, SV%, GAA, SO (goalies)

Active Roster (20 man - requires 5 dman):
C - Thornton, Datsyuk, Gagner, Langkow
W - Zetts, Kessel, Doan, Boyes, Mueller, AK47, Tu. Ruutu, Dumont, Erat
D - Markov, Whitney, Kronwall, Liles, Tyutin
G - Backstrom, Lehtonen

Farm (12 man - 100 game NHL limit)
Backlund, Benn, Kadri, Kreider, Porter, Repik, Maxwell, Carlson, OEL, Gragnani, Bernier, Pickard

Limit of 15 roster moves a year (farm team call-ups don't count).

Trade Proposal:
Kronwall/Dumont for Little/Kubina/10 1st round prospect pick (should be about 5th to 8th overall)

Please offer any thoughts. Thanks.

The pick coming your way is nice, but Dumont will out-point Little next year - and Kronwall will out-point Kubina. Kronwall is going to be a top 5/top 10 Dman in less than 2 years, and will hold this status for 5+ years.

I would stand pat. Cheers.

Man I have been staring at this for 15 minutes - this is a close call. I think you likely win this deal over time. I think in the short term you are likely to come out fairly even - down in points but up in PIMs likely and if the Thrash can square things away some then I think +/- might be alright.

I would be concerned that Little would have winger status for you - if he only plays C then I don't think I would consider it.

The pick is okay but nothing special, however having two picks in the 1st round next year might give you nice leverage.

I really don't know what to say - I think it is simply that close.

Do you really need another prospect - you might have all those guys still farm eligible next year?

I really like Kronwall, who is clearly the centerpiece in this trade, and that's why I wouldn't do it, because you don't wanyt a centerpiece who is prone yto injury, especially the way this guy plays. I would stick with Little, who should break out this year, and Kubina should do well on that Thrashers PP.

Just realized that you are the one who would give up Kronwall. I like this deal for you - you already have really nice depth at D with Markov, Whitney and Liles, and so better to get good value for Kronwal now since he will likely end up being an extremely frustrating Dman to own with his injury risk. But I would press the guy to give you more, given that Kronwall is at his highest value with the great, injuty-free season he just had. Maybe try to get a player of higher caliber than Little, a winger? But even with that, if the guy won't budge, I would do this deal, and that 1st rounder is nice for you.

It really is a tough call. I love Kronwall, own him in my roto keeper and love what he brings now and should bring in a Lidstrom-and-Rafalski-free future time, even though the injury issue always concerns me. I used to own Little too, and think his numbers are only going to improve yearly, especially if ATL can start playing better team D overall. The extra 1st Rd pick does give you nice leverage next June, to maybe package them to the guy with the 1st Pick and make a run at Taylor Hall.

Gut instinct: stand pat, especially if you're looking to contend this year.
