After preliminary discussions, I believe that a trade is available - my Toews and J. Johnson for Heatley. Murphy is available as a free agent to fill my lost D-man.

Is this a reasonable deal for me? I\'m willing to let Toews go for Heatley for sure, but it\'s more a question of whether Murphy is an adequate replacement for JJ. At this point, I have 2 D on my bench - Mara and JJ. Because we don\'t count PIMs, I\'m inclined to say that Murphy will have more points for the next couple seasons, then evening out in 3-ish years time.

Also, since we dress 2 of each forward spot plus 3 util., roster flexibility from giving up a centre isn\'t really an issue.

Its really not easy to trade away to future stud stars like them, but Danny Heatley is just unreal, do the trade. And cant believe Murphy is available.

Slight bonus on goals? And you\'re hesitating why?? Heatley/Murphy in a heartbeat. Toews will be good to great, but he may have some growing pains. Heatley\'s in his prime, back to back 50 goal seasons.

Murphy is a bit of an unknown, but based on his pre-season, he looks like a decent risk. I think he even outpoints JJ this season. I\'m a huge JJ fan, but the reality is, I think he\'s going to take a few years to put up really big numbers.

I think the difference is large enough in your favour to do the deal.

heatley is still very young, murphy will be good for at least a few years yet, and jj is incredibly low on the LA depth chart this year and after a poor showing at the end of last season, I\'m not quite sold on him being great for 2-3 years yet.
