Hey guys here\'s my dilemma. The pool I\'m in has 12 teams and is a year to year pool, however this year we have the opportunity to keep two guys from last season. Goalies are somewhat important (Brodeur was the top point getter for the pool). There are no position quotas except for you must have two goalies.
The scoring system for skaters is - 3 for a goal, 2 for an assist, +/-1 for plus minus, .2 points for every penalty minute. Goalies it\'s 5 for a win, 7 for a shut out. We have a seperate draft for goalies, 2 rounds so I don\'t have to worry about ranking skaters and goalies. I finished 2nd last year but my problem is I didn\'t have a lot of top end guys just a lot of depth. Here are the guys who I am considering holding onto. Marian Hossa Brad Richards Daniel Sedin Ray Emery Kari Lethonen Ales Hemsky Anze Kopitar Ryan Getzlaf Alexander Semin I am holding onto Marian Hossa for sure and I\'m leaning towards Brad Richards. The way I figure, he had a pretty bad year last season and still managed 70 points. If he happens to get a winger on his line or get traded he is back up to the 80 point mark easily. My latest problem I\'ve come up with is goalie depth. I\'m very sure Brodeur, Luongo, Kipprusoff and Nabakov will be protected meaning goalies near the end of round two will be sketchy. Does this make Emery more of a viable pick to keep? Thanks for sticking around until the end of a long post and hope to hear your opinions. |

I think Hossa is a given, but I am not sold on Richards. I like your thoughts on Richards season, but that my be why you let him go. Because of his numbers last year, you can probably pick him up again in the draft.
I might be tempted to hang on to Kopitar, Sedin or even Semin. As for goalies, you should be able to replace Emery in the draft. Sure Brodeur, Luongo, Kipper will be protected, but most guys will likely protect two skaters instead. If you can\'t get one of the top three, the next tier of goalies is pretty open. Taking a chance on a guy like Budaj could be as good or better than Emery. I just don;t like the fact that he had his wrist re-built and is still battling Gerber for the number one spot. A slow start by Emery recovering from injury and a hot start by Gerber will greatly affect his GP. |

Hey Tim
How did Lehtonen rank in your pool last year in comparison to Emery? I actually think he is the better goalie although on a worse team. D Sedin would be a guy to keep - 90 point are kinda rare. He will have another good year and perhaps bump things up from last year. Richards won\'t outpoint Sedin I think, although he should bounce back to a PPG. I think with you team the second keeper is a contest between Sedin and Lehtonen (there are abundant 80 point centres like Kopitar for a 1 year league) - I think Emery as suggested by another poster is just a little too risky here. Thanks for the responses guys.
Lethonen and Emery had very similar stats last year. Lethonen had 34 wins and 4 shutouts for about 198 points. Emery had 33 wins and 5 shutouts for about 200 points. After assists and penalty minutes it\'s pretty much a wash. As I said before other then the two goalies there is no position requirements so I could have 24 centres as my skaters if I wanted to. So really I\'m looking for the best player. Daniel Sedin had 223 points Brad Richards had 146 points Kopitar definately has long term potential but I think he\'s a year or two away from being worthy of being protected as a top 2 player. thanks. |

Well I think Sedin is the safest bet for best point producer out of the rest after Hossa.
