ok, heres what i think:
i think your defense is very good. its young and will keep you in the top quarter in that category for a while. what you need to do is trade one of your younger d-men and try to get an older super-star. lidstrom, for example, would pile up points for you in the short term and give you an extra edge. centers are OK. i think malkin will have a 90 point season, marleau a 90 point season, getzlaf a 80 point seaon and drury a 75 point season. that\'s ok, but not great. like your D, you have a full set of star players that will get you points now and for the future (malkin, getzlaf are two great young centers), but id do the same thing: find a way to get a super-star center. id trade getzlaf and try to get pavel datsyuk (he\'ll have a lot of time, PP, etc. so he\'ll fit nicely for your leagues scoing cats). getz will have a bad year without sellane. so, trade him while he has high value. no one realizes that heatley should go 2nd right behind crosby in most drafts. for him, you have the greatest winger super-star out there, IMO. in most leagues, he was the MVP by a fair margin last year. ive been trying to get him on my team for a long time, still no luck. but like most of your team, you have an extremely young core that still needs to prove its worth and you lack proven veterans that guarentee points. semin will have a good year but hes a good 2-3 years from putting up numbers in the 80s and over. nash may never reach that but if he does, it\'ll be in a similar time frame. kane is also a good 2-3 years from making an impact at the NHL level. drew stafford is a sleeper pick this year, but hes again, 2-3 years from making a big impact in the NHL. havlat is a huge injury issue. id do the same thing here: trade kane and havlat for a super-star type player. havlat will get injured again and kane is a long ways away from making an impact. he has increased value because he went 1st overall in a draft so maximize this value and deal him. your goalies are so-so. bernier will be great, but 2-3 years for him to be an impact player at any level. mason is unproven and could falter. lehtenon is 2-3 years away from living up to his potential. at that point he\'ll be a great goalie but until then hes really only average. bottomline: in 2-3 years youve set yourself up to be a major contender. you have an extremely young team which would be perfect for a re-building mode. however, if youre interested in being a contender this year and in teh short-term, you have to deal some of the players like nash, havlat (injury prone), kane, bernier, etc. for players that will produce now. there are plenty of super-stars you could grab if you deal them, they have high trade value. those are my long-winded thoughts.

Well Im not planing on wining this year at all I plan on setting myself up for the next couble of years and then win it the next 5 6 years thats why I picked the players I did I might trade 1 of my goailes but Bernier is my futtur super star goaile and as for Kane I think he will do great and I love my D men I think I might have the best young Ofence Defence Men
Letang yes he is young but I dont think he will play much next year but maybe 2 years from now he will step in who knows right? but then agian I got both young Super Star\'s Johnsons aswell so Im not in no rush wining it this year or next but I can set my team up to be the best for the next 6 years in 2 - 3 years from now and if I come last this year I might just beable to pick up Tavares so I could have a good year or not we will see. As for Nash and Havlat I took them as a camble when Havlat is playing he can put points up on the bord thats for sure.

Hmm even in an 8 team league it defies logic how you got both Heatley and Malkin - be happy. I don\'t think the rest of your team fell together so well for this size of league. I think your goaltending and D needs some work even to compete down the road.
You have potential - but I think you have to work hard this season to tune this team for the future. Post edited by: Shoeless, at: 2007/09/17 04:42

Your best assets are definitely your forwards. You have good LW and you\'re pretty deep in center. Your dmen are young but will be really good in 2-3 years. With another pretty good goalie you\'re in shape for awhile!

You may have made a mistake in going so young. In a league your size, only 200 players are taken, and really doesn\'t make sense to pick too many unproven players. In particular, I\'ve got to agree with Shoeless that your D needs work. While your d-men will be solid down the road, possibly only EJ will end up being top 5 in the league. Letang maybe, but only as long as he stays on an offensive powerhouse team like Pit. JJ also maybe, but he\'s going to be more of an all-around guy than the other 2. For the moment, Liles is not good enough to be anchoring a defence, either. I would be looking at cashing in on the hype surrounding one of those 3 guys to try and get someone proven. You may be able to get someone like M-A Bergeron or Joni Pitkanen for a straight-up 1-to-1 swap, because many people are unfamiliar with Bergeron, and Pitkanen had a sub-par season last year.
