Well there are few things I think about:
1. Band 2. Aid 3. Boy Give your head a shake.

You really can\'t expect 100 out of spezza in any given year. Sure, sometime it will happen, but he does get injured quite often.
You can improve on Samsonov in other ways. 80-100 pt guys can actually be cultivated through good prospect drafting sometimes. 150-200 pt players... once in a fantasy lifetime possibly. I wouldn\'t ever trade him. Not even for Heatley and AO or Thornton and Ovechkin. And if anything... you need to continue to CONSOLIDATE talent. With players like Radulov, Backstrom, Kane, Mueller etc not even in your keeper ranks probably right now... you gotta get to work making room... not taking it up by splitting crosby\'s value. If you didn\'t have much talent after Crosby I think I would definetly do this trade. But seeing that you have so much young talent in Backstrom, Radulav, Kessel, Mueller, etc there shouild be no reason to trade away the best player in the league. Anyone of these 4 guys I mentioned could be 100 point players and produce just as good as Spezza or Ovechkin in a couple years. And until these guys are ready to score 100 points you still have a few guys who are going to push 80, 90, 100 points until they are ready. So in your case I say no do not trade Crosby for sure, but In other peoples cases this may be a no brainer to trade him. By the way thats a great looking team you have!!!

I am a little suprised in this thread to see so many inferences or statements that Ovechkin is a 100 pt player.

I think Ovechkin is reaching a point where he takes that next big step and becomes a lock as over a PPG player. Now, does that mean he gets to 1.25 PPG and hits 100 each season, maybe. I do know though that he is immensely talented, has a big-time heart and will be lining up with one of the top playmaking centers in all of hockey in Nylander.
I wouldn\'t guarantee 100 but I think he has better than a 50/50 shot to hit the century mark -- and to keep doing it for many years to come. Post edited by: Lamplighter, at: 2007/09/14 11:08 |

Thanks for all your input guys... I decided not to pull the trade. It will be tough to decide now on whom to protect... I\'ll prolly be making some trades for draft picks next year with my bubble players.
Any thoughts on whom I should protect or let go?? I can protect 8 (+ 2 if they\'re under 23...) for a total of 10

Without checking ages I would say...
1. Crosby 2. Kovalchuk 3. Radulov 4. Jokinen (as long as it is Olli) 5. Gagne 6. Hemsky 7. Kopitar 8. Afinogenov 9. Backstrom 10. Kane Really your 2 extras could be more valuable than several of the top 8 IMO. Letting go of Gomez, Mueller, Perry, Roy, Kessel and Sykora (with his new situation) really really hurts. Do your best to consolidate the talent. Using Gomez and maybe one of your lesser top 8 I bet you could land someone like Thornton or Heatley if they have room on their keeper roster. You could even do a 3 for 1 if they really need the high end quantity. Surely some would hate on keeping Hemsky, but long haul, it is probably worth it. Also, some would rather have Gomez than Kane (by moving radulov or kopitar into the extras), but the gamble on the youngster is more exciting I\'d say. Plus wings are more valuable. HELL OF A TEAM!
