thats an interesting way dobber, thanks, I will definitely think about that one.

Another thought just came to me while I was reading over my rules and something else I need to address, hoping someone could shed some light. Since I have it set for a max number of years a keeper is held, that being 3. If a keeper is involved in a trade, do you think the new owner should have that maximum reset back to 3 if lets say the previous owner is in his second or final season with that player? or should the new owner only have the time remaining on the players \"contract\"? but then whats the benefit in acquiring him if I go with the second choice?
Keep the contracts as is...it adds to the strategy. We do that in ours and it really makes for an extra challenge to take guys who are going to be FAs or not. And I personally would welcome the challenge of taking a bad team and turning it around in a coupe of years so I could gloat to the rest of the league. I think you should make the new GM take the old team. Just my two cents.

Thank you guys for all your advice. I have kept it so it stays the same, the years will not get reset, you take the contract as is.

bctopdawg, to answer your questions, we cap it at 3 seasons for keepers, I might make it 4 but I will leave that to a league vote. Trading is regular until the deadline, and FA pickups I capped at 50.
