F- VANEK BUF (depleated BUF team - More ice time- drawing best defenders)
F- SEMIN WSH (PP with Ovechkin - Magical with puck) F- HAVLAT CHI (Band Aid groin - potential with TOEWS and KANE) F- MICHALEK SJ(PP with THORNTON - dangler) F- HEMSKY EDM (Amazing talent-Long term with SCHREMP and COGLIANO?) I am spinning a few trade options and want some opinions on these players. If you could please rank the above players both on a short term and long term list that would be great Points are just FWD-1G 1A. DEF-2G and 1A. I have to spin these trades to make a protected list of 10. Two of these players will round out my forwards. My 2nd question is would you protect 2 of these forwards over the following DEF in a KEEPER POOL? 1. PITKANEN EDM (New location may breath life - still young) 2. SCHNEIDER ANA (Consistant scorer) 3. BIEKSA VAN (not to sure about him - up and comer w/ big shot - young) 4. POTI WSH (PP with OVECHKIN - could have huge plus side - 20 pts on last 22 gammes) I am leaning to protecting one of these D and get two FORWARDS in trade. Thanks Post edited by: Hitmen, at: 2007/08/27 02:19

My list off your forwards
1. Vanek - I know Buffalo\'s depleted but the boy gots skillz yo. Sorry. Anyways there\'s still a lot of talent in Buffalo and that second should provide enough cover for the top line that they\'ll get a bit of freedom. More importantly, he\'s got a big upside over 100, easy. 2. Semin - Now I actually think Hemsky and Havlat have more problems but Semin gets to go against the 3 and 4 d-men. Who in their right mind is going to put the #1 pairing on Semin and leave Ovechkin to roam free. 3. Hemsky - He may never develop but he\'s a brilliant passer, if the Oil ever get a sniper, whether its Schremp improving or some other player, he\'ll explode. He\'s a gamble but it could pay off huge. 4. Michalek - He\'s as good a short bet as there is in the bunch but it appears he\'s entirely reliant on Big Joe for his points at the moment. I like his skills but he did suffer a major knee injury early in his career and bad knees scare me. 5. Havlat - He\'s just so injury prone and he\'s stupid. Who gets suspended for kicking in professional hockey? Havlat, that\'s who, I wouldnt take a risk on a guy who\'s got those 2 strikes against him. I rank your D like this 1. Pitkanen - +/- doesnt count so who cares if he plays on a poor defensive team. With him and Souray on the points and Hemsky on the half boards the Edmonton PP is going through the Blue Line big points and more goals. 2. Schneider - short term, big numbers possible 60 points playing in Anaheim. If you\'re not going to win now dont touch. 3. Bieksa - I\'d put him as high as #1 if you counted PIMs, but you dont. I like what Bieksa brings to the table and he\'s getting #1 PP time in Vancouver. Furthermore, the twins are gonna be around in Vancouver to keep the O flowing for a while so he\'ll get his points. 4. Poti - INCONSISTENT. I like the potential of what he could do in Washington but he\'s on again off again. Enough said. I\'m not sure of the rest of your question, but that\'s how I rank the players you asked about. |

I am not far from where DL is on his assessment. As you sound like you are only going to keep 2 forwards at a maximum - Vanek and Semin likely have the highest value keeper wise - they all are fantasy worthy but those would be the two I would pick.
I would rank Pitkanen first among your D guys and then it would be Poti for me 20 points in 22 games to end the season kinda convinced me he has it figured out. I am not totally clear on what you are asking but it sounds like you can only keep 2 of all these players and the rest are on the trade block. Not sure how that will work but I would keep Vanek and Semin over keeping a D guy - the values do not come close to equating.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
It is good to get others opinions. Lets me know if I am on the right track and possibly what the other guys in my pool are thinking. I am trying not over value my own guys. I agree with both of you on POTI - he is inconsistant, however the possibility of a huge breakout is there. BIEKSA I am not sold on yet. PITKANEN I took as a rookie and held him for over a year before he played. He was one of the guys I thought I meight be over evaluating. Thanks again, feedback is welcome as I play to \"win\" every year. I don\'t win all the time (won last year) but I try. I don\'t like donating. I currently have SUNDIN, SEMIN, MICHALEK, HEMSKY, POTI, PITKANEN, SCHNEIDER, BIEKSA all ready for trade. other teams are a little short on D or forward. I am trying to acquire 1.PIT WHITNEY 2.BUF VANEK and TOR KABERLE 3.OTT SPEZZA From other clubs that would benefit from a QUANTITY to QUALITY offer. Hopefully I can get two done.
