if esposito and cherepanov played in the bchl like turris and scored 80 goals...would they have been drafted higher ?????

does playing against weaker opponents help your draft status ?

espo and cherry both had more points at u18\"s , when it was a level playing field.

Hello hockeynut:

Cherepanov would have been because he was in North America.

Esposito wouldn\'t have been. Scouts would have seen the same thing.

You are selling Turris and the BCJHL short. You shouldn\'t be.

My thoughts.

Yah, and playing with Radulov didnt significantly help Esposito going into last year. Just look at the difference in Radulov\'s numbers between last year and the year with Radulov. Furthermore, hockeylifer\'s right, the bcjhl is underrated, there\'s a lot of players there now who play thee until they go to school in the US, they do this because they cant play in the WHL and then go to school in the US. Thus you have a fair amount of top notch prospects in the BCJHL.

come on..turris is good no doubt , but does espo score 66 goals in the bchl this year..i think he does easy.

trying to compare the bchl to the chl is crazy..its not even close.

espo still got 79pts in 60 games in an off season...playing in the chl

turris is good...espo scores 70 goals in the bchl

You\'re underrating the BCJHL it\'s not as bad a league as you think it is. Furthermore, Espo\'s more of a set-up man than he is a goal scorer and i cant see him scoring 50 goals at any level other than Bantam or Midget AAA. I\'m not saying Espo isnt good, I\'m just saying that playing with radulov bumped Espo up the ladder a lot. He\'s good and talented but he wouldnt have been ranked #1 if he hadnt had a year playing with the second best talent (skater) to come out of the Q since Richards and Lecavalier.

no doubt...espo will be a better fantasy player than turris cause his teammates will be malkin , sidney and staal
turris..will have vrbata , doan and mueller..

gretzky made a good kurri a hall of famer
sidney will work that same magic..wait 2-3 years from now..pittsburgh will be a superpower.

espo is better in fantasy value cause of his team..just like in the Q.
one difference..rads left..sidney is going no where

your point wasnt that espo has more fantasy value than turris, your point was that espo should have been drafted higher than turris because turris played in the bcjhl, rather your point was that turris is over-rated because he played in the bcjhl, who they play with at the NHL level has nothing to do with where they should\'ve been drafted. Furthermore, while I wont argue that Mueller, Hanzal, Kaigorodov and Doan rival the talents of Crosby, Malkin, Staal and Whitney I will suggest that it\'s too early to write off turris\' fantasy value simply because 3 of those 4 havent done anything at the NHL level.

Turris\' stock was hurt by the fact that he played in the BCHL. He is a wildcard because we haven\'t seen him play against top competition. That being said -
Espo being a high-scoring NHLer because of linemates is a solid assessment.

But Turris \'could\' be a high-scoring NHLer because of Turris. That\'s saying a lot more. When Steve Yzerman was 18, were you saying that he won\'t be as good a player as Jari Kurri? After all, Kurri had Gretzky and Messier...but Yzerman had nobody.

Not saying Turris will be Yzerman. I\'m saying the potential is there, we haven\'t really seen what he can do. He could be a 70-point guy or a 100-point guy.
