Hey guys, i need a little advice.
I\'m in a 14-team keeper league that is currently doing our first draft. We keep 5 each year. It is round 7 right now, and i have 3 picks in quick succession from an earlier trade. My team currently consists of: C: Savard RW: Hossa LW: Kovalchuk D: Whitney G: Budaj Now, a bunch of guys that i would have like to have with this pick are gone. The best forwards avaliable, according to dobber\'s keeper value ratings, are: Hemsky, Sundin, Gionta, Langkow, Huselius, Bouchard, Brunette, and Horton Best defnesemen, according to dobber\'s keeperr values: Pitkanen, MA Bergeron, Bouwmeester, Campbell, Carle, Zubov, Rafalski, and Jack Johnson Best goaltenders according to dobber: Bryzgalov, Huet, Leclaire, Kolzig, Harding, Khabibulin, Holmqvist, Price ...and pretty much every prospect except for Eric Johnson. I can really go any way on this descision. My goaltending sucks, and i only have 4 of 5 solid keepers. I would really like Price or Bernier for future goaltending (we have 3 prospect slots that we keep each year), but im not sure in which round they are usually taken. What would you guys suggest? |

Horton, J. Johnson, and Price probably have the most potential.
Pitkanen is probably the guy I\'d pick instead of Johnson as long as +/- isn\'t a concern. If you pick up Price you could hedge you bet by picking up Huet in the later rounds. Hemsky will produce assists but not as many goals or PIMs as Horton so that depends on your point system and positional requirements. I also like Carle who should hit 50 after 40 in his rookie year. He\'s more of a sure bet and if PIMs don\'t matter I might take him over Johnson. Lots of guys in L.A. are fighting for PP time but SJ doesn\'t have as many PP quarterbacks. So Horton, Pitkanen, and Price?

strictly points based.
Hemsky is gold. Take him and you wont regret it. Bouwmeester will be anchoring the D on the most improved team in the league. There are a lot of good prospect goalies coming up. Don\'t rate them too high! |

I ended up with Hemsky with the first of 3 picks because Horton was taken right before. I\'m now trying to decide if i go for defender + price or defender + another decent forward?

I\'d go with a defender and a starting goalie if you can find one. All of the sleepers -- Legace, Mason, etc. are taken?
If there\'s absolutely NO starting goaltenders left then I\'d consider grabbing Bouwmeester and Backstrom. Bouwmeester is proven talent that\'s only getting better. He\'s done well on a team that\'s been mediocre at best. Backstrom is obviously highly touted, but I like his situation because he doesn\'t have the pressure of a #1 center job and won\'t be playing with a slouch 2nd line. Semin and Kozlov make for great linemates and I see him doing very well.
