Default Re:Why I\'m losing respect for Brian Burke.

Let me clear something up here, I am not saying that Burke is a bad GM, I am saying that given his tendency to hypocrisy and bluster I\'ve lost respect for him. His track record proves that he knows what he\'s doing, and he gets the job done. He didnt really have a chance in Carolina/Hartford forget where they were but he did some of the ground work. He took the Canucks from a crumbling piece of crap to a contender. He took the Ducks to the cup. I just no longer respect him for my aforementioned reasons.

Angus: I dont understand how you can say the majority of Nonis\' moves have worked out. I count the positives moves as the Luongo trade, Pyatt signing and the Mitchell signing versus the 2 deals at this past deadline, the 5 deals the deadline before, marc chouinard and i think he did richard park (if I\'m missing a move i\'m sure you\'ll let me know, signing Lee Goren to a minor league deal does not count). Now, this is not to say that he hasnt done a good job, as I inarticulately tried to put it before, Luongo was a stroke of GENIUS, and puts a positive spin on his whole tenure as GM of the Canucks. Furthermore the history of deadline deals is that most fail so Nonis isnt the only gm with a poor track record there. It\'s also very tempting to mark the Shannon deal as a positive, especially since it\'s something for nothing but I feel it\'s too early. I\'m entirely comfortable with your opinion that you\'re more comfortable with him as GM with Burke, my point was simply that he doesnt have the track record yet that Burke, and as such is unproven. When I was in Vancouver I tired quickly of the numb nuts on Vancouver sports talk radio who would bash Nonis especially those idiots who bashed the Luongo trade. Furthermore I agree with you that this coming off-season, assuming the Nucks dont re-sign their old and decrepits that will the real test of Nonis, and if I was a Canuck fan I too would be excited.

I apologize for any grammar or spelling mistakes I\'ve made, I was gonna proofread it after the hatchet job I did with my last post but this quickly became too long and unwieldy. Maybe this is why I never got good grades on my papers. HMMM...

Bottom line is Burke is phenomenal at what he does. He puts together winning teams from the outside and knows every angle of what needs to be in place for a winner.

Ever since he has stepped on board with Anaheim, the Ducks have morphed from a laughingstock to a powerhouse. Granted Burke had some good prospects handed to him from Murray\'s days, but Burke knows what he is doing. His presence is the major reason the Ducks will be good for the next 5 years as well (at the minimum). I would expect to see at least two more Cup finals appearances in the next 4 years out of Anaheim.
