Default Trade Help Needed

OK, so first let me tell you a little about my league. It\'s a keeper league with 14 teams. I am planning on going for it this year but without giving up too much of the future.

Scoring system works like this:

Forward - 1pt goal/assist
2pts pp goal
4pts sh goal
3 pts gw goal

Defence - 3 pts goal/1pt assist
3 pts pp goal
5 pts sh goal
4 pts gw goal

So as you may be able to tell, goals are huge in my league. Now that being said, I have been offered the following trade options:

1.I give up - (D)Meszaros, (F)A.Esposito and (F)Oscar Moller
I get - (F)Zetterberg

2.I give up - (D)Meszaros and (F)Esposito
I get - (F)Spezza

I am having trouble which of the two is better for me...and I also should note that we are a salary cap based league so Spezza is @ $4.5 and Zetterberg is @ $2.65. I am currently @ $41M with 3 players to sign(depth players).

Any advise is appreciated guys!! Thanks!

I\'m not a big Spezza fan, but his numbers are pretty good. I like Zetterberg, but I recently read that his back is still bothering him. Apparently Zetts was supposed to play with Peter Forsberg\'s charity team, the Icebreakers, but Detroit asked him not to play because of his back. That concerns me.

Spezza\'s two years younger, but also has issues with missing games. Geez, battle of the band-aid boys!

I\'d go with Spezza, especially considering he is entering a contract year - although he is only eligible to become a RFA, he should still be more motivated to rack up the points than Zetterberg.

Whether or not you are going for it this year, you should take the Spezza deal...but since you are going for it anyway, take Spezza (x 2)...

you\'re better off holding on to the talent you have , espo is worth taking a gamble on and meszaros #\'s will rise again this year.this would mean you may have to wait a year to go for gold but your future would be better.

Hello crazycanuck4 \'et al\':

I am assuming that your total allowable salary cap is 50.3 million and that taking Spezza\'s contract would not be problematic for your team. I think Spezza benefits you the most and that you are giving up less to get him.

Spezza - 24 yrs - 34g,53a - 87 points in 67 games - 5gw, 1sh, 13pp
Zetterberg - 27 yrs - 33g, 35a - 68 points in 63 games - 10gw, 1sh, 11pp

Based on your comment that you are going for it this year and your wanting to choose between Spezza and Zetterberg, I would go with Spezza.

My thoughts.

Doesn\'t that defeat the purpose though?

Spezza is proven...

Esposito is a gamble...he won\'t make the team this year, maybe not even next...
Meszaros\' numbers didn\'t rise this past year, they actually dropped by 4 points...

Esopsito is the only thing really holding me back in this deal.

He shouldn\'t be.

I would do that deal in a second.

You are getting the best player in the deal.

Will Espo ever be better than Spezz or Zetts? Crap shoot - go with the known.
