Need to shore up my long term goaltending and I have a reasonable shot at drafting one of these guys- Bernier, Price, or Rask. What is the verdict- any explanation as to why/how long/ upside etc, would be heartily welcomed.

1. Price. This guy has first-team allstar potential. He\'s a couple of seasons away.
2. Bernier. I only put him ahead of Rask because he plays for Los Angeles. 3. Rask. I like him better than Bernier talent-wise (though I seem to recall that dobber may disagree), but Boston doesn\'t have the prospects that Los Angeles does. Bottom line is that any of these three guys has the potential to be fantasy gold in a few years.

IMO, these three players have similar upsides... high end starting goaltenders. Chances are, all three of these guys will have a starters job within 3-5 years, if not sooner.
Considering the organizations that these players are with, Bernier is the most intriguing because LA will likely be a powerhouse team in the near future. Unless things change drastically, Montreal and Boston will still be fighting for a playoff spot. That being said, Bernier is the youngest of the bunch and might be an additional year away. Building for the future, my choice would be Bernier Price, by a hair Rask But looking to the future, I\'d be ecstatic to get any of these three guys. |

Hello Fighting_Emu \'et al\'
I see it as: Price, Rask, Bernier I consider them all to be very good goaltenders but their situations differ. I considered that Price will be in the NHL before Rask or Bernier. I liked Rask\'s situation better than Bernier\'s. L.A. is likely to trade for a goaltender, hopefully Bryzgalov. |

1. Bernier
2. Rask 3. Price I\'m partial to Bernier because I own him in my keeper league (traded Iginla and Nagy for Kopitar and Bernier at the end of last season). LA has future dynasty written all over them and in our league you keep your players for life and I\'m building around them (also have Frolov and Johnson so I\'m loving life right now) Talent-wise I\'d have to say that Rask (who I also own) would top the list but Bernier has a better future on a better team. Price is still amazing and anyone of these guys could be #1 but if you can get your hands on Bernier I\'d grab him. |

Here\'s my rankings, based soley on talent:
1) Rask 2) Price 3) Bernier Here\'s my rankings, based on who will make an impact in the NHL first: 1) Price 2) Bernier 3) Rask And finally, here\'s my rankings based on who has the best \"fantasy value\" over the short term (2-5 years), taking into account the teams they currently play for: 1) Bernier 2) Rask 3) Price Regardless of which player you choose, any one of these guys will give you an excellent fantasy goalie going forward. All of them have future all-star potential and should be solid fantasy goalies. Post edited by: wizworm, at: 2007/07/28 05:12

I would have to put all my votes in for Price. Dominating the World Juniors and then for what he did in the AHL playoffs this year was incredible. I have heard alot about Rask and I guess you never know but I have seen Price play and I think he is the real deal..
Its hard to rate goalies for the future because it all depends on how his team plays infront of him. But I am pretty sure Price will be a game saver on alot of nights for the Habs..

Based on skill/talent I would go with:
Price Bernier Rask Based on the team they will be playing for, the list is: Bernier Price Rask That being said if I could only pick one it would be Price.

Just look what Price did in the AHL playoffs, after starting just 2 regular season games in the AHL, this 19 year old shut down some of the biggest offensive teams in the AHL and led his team to a Calder Cup championship. Hes by far above both those other 2. Then i go with Bernier then Rask
