Default H2H pool application

Does anyone know of a hockey pool application that would support a H2H format?

Most of the ones I can find are roto or pts based. It would be a bonus if it could schedule multiple H2H games/week (ie. team A is H2H against teams B,C and D) and provide on-line access to poolies.

We\'re using yahoo right now and copying the ytd stats into a .txt file and importing it into an excel program and manually working out the various H2H matchups. Ideally, we would be able to automate all of this.

Additionally, does anyone know of an application or source that provides the Real Time Scoring System data like Hits and Blocked Shots? Yahoo doesn\'t seem to record that information and the NHL.com site isn\'t that user friendly since you have to manually go through all the pages.

The stats we\'re currently using:
G,A,Pts,+/-,PIM,PPG,PPA,SOG,Wins,GAA,Saves

If by H2H that will allow flexible scheduling, we use CBS and you can manually adjust the schedule.

CBS can do multiple matchups per period. However, each team has to have the same # of matchups.

This is a bit confusing to me so bear with me. What do the stats have to do with determining matchups? I\'m just curious as to what you\'re actually doing.

No, I know of no service that provides hits and blocked shots in their live scoring data? If there was one of those, with an H2H system that allowed manual scheduling, they\'d get our business over anyone else 1,000 times over.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I\'ll definitely check it out.

Hmm...can they handle a playoff tree? ie. We start our own \'playoffs\' in the 1st week or 2 of March. Also, we have typically used a changing number of games per week. For Oct/Nov, we play 2 H2H games per week, Dec/Jan/Feb we jump to 4 games and then in March onwards, we have \"playoffs\" where the top 5 teams play H2H against each other for the title.

Sorry, I was just rambling on about us needing to find a better way to crunch the stats. Right now, we don\'t use any tool, we\'re copying the ytd stats for all players from the yahoo player stats page and dumping them into an excel worksheet and letting the macros take care of determining the weekly stats for each player and then accumulating them for each team and then comparing the category total against the H2H matchups.

You choose how long you want the regular season to be and how long you want the playoffs to be. You can manually edit each week\'s matchups, so you could have a 1 week first round, 1 week second round, 2 week finals, etc. A 2 week finals is actually 2 weeks of the same matchup.

I think what you could probably do is set it so each team has 5 matchups a week for the whole season and then not fill all the matchups earlier in the season. That might work, you\'d have to see when they roll out a free trial, which is generally only a couple of weeks before the season starts. I can\'t change any of my settings right now to really look because it will wipe last season\'s results, which I haven\'t gotten around to archiving yet. I\'m not 100% that that would owrk, but it might.

Glad I could help.

If you are looking for weekly stats, you can check out USA Today\'s stats page:

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/hocke...tics-index.htm

If you scroll down, they offer stats for the past 7/14/21/28 days.

From what I recall when I was pulling stats from USA Today, they need a bit of work to get the stats cleanly into a database.

CBS keeps all the stats and you can break it down into one week, 3 yr avg, 14 days, 21 days, whatever you want. They don\'t have up to the minute stats on the hits and various lesser used categories, but they are updated the next morning. As for the scheduling question, I\'ve never heard of that kind of schedule, but CBS is pretty flexible with different formats, you can ask them, go to the help section at
http://www.sportsline.com/fantasy/hockey

They have some FAQ\'s that might help you or yo can ask directly (don\'t expect a quick reply)

I\'m looking for a site to run a new keeper league in the fall. If one of you guys that is familiar with CBS Sportsline could answer these questions, I\'d really appreciate it. Thanks.

Head-to-Head: What options are there for determining the winner of a head-to-head game? My league has 16 stat categories. Can we set it so that whichever owner wins the most categories for the week gets the win, or do we have to assign a point value to each category?

Team Logos: Is it possible to upload image files for team logos?

NHL Playoffs: Does the service run during the NHL playoffs, or only the regular season? If it does run during the playoffs, are the scoring options the same as for the regular season?

Thanks a lot for any help you can give.

1)Yes you can set it for however you like. We have 10 categories and whoever wins the most cats gets the win for the week. You can set tie-breakers as well. For us, if two teams are tied in cats for the week, whoever has the most goals then gets the win. (if still tied, we leave it as a tie.) For our Baseball pool we have each category as a win or loss. It\'s however you want to do it. The commissioner has full control.

2)Yes. I tried to upload my logo for my avatar here, but I think it\'s too big (gotta figure that out). The site has some generic logos for the lazy, but after much ridicule we\'ve got all 16 teams with original(or at least relevant) images for logos.

3)Don\'t know, ours is just reg. season. I\'m sure you can carry over into playoffs, but not sure. Check out the FAQs on the site and it should answer that one.

Thanks so much for your response, that helps a lot. One other question... what positions do you use? We use just F, D and G. But I heard from someone else that they had to use C as well because of the way the site is set up. Is that right? Thanks for your help.

We use C, W, D, G. We could break wings down to right and left. I\'m pretty sure you can just do forwards too.
