Default How can I improve my team?

12 team H2H Yahoo partial keeper transitioning to dynasty (keep 14 this year, then 20, then 26)
Start: 4C, 4LW, 4RW, 6D, 1UTIL, 2G
Stats: G, A, PPP, SHP, +/-, PIM, SOG, HIT, BLK / W, GAA, SV%, SV, SHO
8 man farm expanding to 10 (<60/30 GP)

Current roster (potential keepers in CAPS)
C: BACKSTROM, THORNTON, Zajac, Cogliano (LW)
LW: HALL, VANEK, Prospal (C), Raymond, Winnik
RW: SEGUIN (C), SKINNER (C), GABORIK, JOHANSEN (C), Okposo
D: CARLSON, Markov, Carle, Martin, McBain, Seidenberg, Boychuk
G: FLEURY, LUONGO, BERNIER, NEUVIRTH, Vokoun

IR: GREEN (D)

Farm: Lehner (G), Kassian (RW), Reinhart (D), Brodin (D), Dansk (G), Armia (F), Hertl (F), Phillips (F)

Currently sitting in 9th place (top 8 make playoffs). I've won only 1 matchup to date. My LW and D are pretty atrocious depthwise. I do have 3 1st round picks for next year's prospect draft. Very slim pickings on the FA wire. How do you guys recommend I approach the stretch run and going into next season? Sell off my older talent and do a quick rebuild? Fight for the playoffs and own the drafts next year? Rep for your advice.

i would definitely work on getting the best group of keepers you can selling off older players to do so

keep those 1st rounders because if you work on your keepers that coupled with the 1st rounders should give you a nice jump on other teams given your keeper numbers will be increasing

I'd replace keepers Johansen and Neuvirth with Markov and Seidenberg. If you believe that your team will get flatten if you squeeze into the playoffs then I would probably start the reload process now. I'd shop your non keepers to teams who are in the middle of it and see if anyone needs more depth. See if you can package out 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 deals to get a single upgraded player that might be a keeper in return, otherwise take draft picks if you can.

When you head back to the draft, there might not be any starting goalies available, but if they exist, you will need to take at least one of them in the early rounds. Spend all the early rounds on high performance forwards and save the lower rounds for defence. Target lessor named defencemen who rack up a ton of hits and blocks (Seidenberg) and are usually still available later in the draft. Save your best rounds for scoring forwards (with preference for centers) and let the defence do the dirty cats. If you want a list of good blue collar defencemen to target, I can send you the list on PM.
