Who would you rather have going forward in a points-only keeper?
I really like both of their upsides. MDZ has already put up a 40 point season, but Faulk's defensive game seems to have earned himself more trust from his coach which is also resulting in more PP and overall ice time. Really on the fence about this one. Cheers. |

Yeah, there's never been a lot of love for MDZ on these boards.
Not sure why... |

I'm not a fan of Tort's doghouses so Faulk is the easy choice for me.

Yeah, agree with all that has been said above. Tort's doghouse is definitely not easy to get out of, and MDZ's icetime and by extension his offensive production will decrease unless he is able to come out of it. I like Faulk, especially given his ice-time and the way the Canes as a whole are producing.

I'm a big Faulk fan - think he's going to be a very good (not elite) offensive defenseman soon. A steady dose of 42-49 wouldn't shock me. I would pick him.

Sure, you have a point, he could be definitely. I think Faulk is a more well-rounded player with a stocky build and fierce competitive skills as well. I see a lot of Dan Boyle in him. MDZ is slick and good but my intuition is not sold on him yet - I think Faulk could be a legit #1 DMan and MDZ a top-4 and PP spe******t.
