Default Opinion on Bryzgalov's last game

This is just a thought that I was having while watching/after watching Bryzgalov get torched by the Rangers. I was wondering if other people thought the same thing watching the game.

It's no secret that Bryzgalov needs to be in net if the Flyers are going to win games, and the fact that he's started 22 out of 24 games this year shows that the Flyers know that. But I've been seeing a lot of comments on Twitter that sends the tone as though Bryzgalov is being overworked (currently Ryan Miller is the only goalie that has started a many games as Bryz)...and I could have sworn I saw a quote from Bryz himself that he thinks he's being overworked as well.

He looked brutal in the game against the Rangers. It basically looked to me like he wasn't trying very hard at all. He looked slow, disinterested, and sloppy. I feel like he was taking the night off, with or without the coach's consent. Anyone else get that vibe?

Don't get me wrong, the goals the Flyers allowed weren't ALL his fault, two on one rush, Callahan basically danced around a prone Luke Schenn, etc., but when I was watching replays of his attempts on those chances his body language looked to me like "oh well this is going in", whereas other more competitive goalies would make more of an effort to make the save to keep his team in the game.

I'm interested to hear people's thoughts who actually watched the game. Not really a POINT to this post persay, but more like an observation that doesn't make me feel good

I only watched part of that game, so I can't comment entirely on Bryzgalov's play that particular game. I will say, however, that often Bryzgalov's body language looks like that. He isn't so much a reactionary goalie like some. He is more about body positioning, so when he lets in a goal, it sometimes looks like he didn't put in much effort on the play. I find Carey Price can look that way sometimes, and the one goalie I most thought looked that way when he used to play was Patrick Roy.

All that said, I do think Bryzgalov is being overplayed. One might argue that in a condensed season, this is bad news. Teams often play 4 games a week. However, on the flip side, Bryzgalov is used to playing 65+ games a season, plus the playoffs, and this year he won't get anywhere close to that many games.

Ah okay thanks for the insight. His effort just didn't seem there from my perspective, but what you said could explain it.
