Default Ryan O'Reilly

Assuming the contract thing eventually gets sorted out (whether with the Avs or someone else), how should I value O'Reilly in a H2H league (G, A, +/-, PPP, shots, hits, blocks). He is definately available for trade but is not going to be given away for free. I would know how much to pay for him if I knew what he was going to be.

What players would you compare him to (upside, downside, expectation, etc.)?

I'd compare him to a 40-50 pt player. Other than the short stint last year, he hasn't proven anything.

It very much depends on where he lands. If he lands somewhere like Philly or NYR, he'll be used as a third line center where he'll hit 40-50 points if he's lucky. The two years where he has less than 40 he played as Colorado's number three center with not the greatest linemates. Really the only reason he had good numbers last year was he had a calder winner on his flank and a shit disturber on the other side (Downie, and yes he was only there from a week before the trade deadline and on)

If he lands in Columbus, he'll be used as the number one center and have tons of ice time and opportunity to put up points.
I see him as Patrice Bergeron-lite. As an Avs fan I was a huge fan of his. Full of potential, teammates loved him and he was a rink rat. This contract hold out is obviously a big red flag as he wants to be paid 4-5 million a year because of one good year (and because he has lots of character).

Personally, I wouldn't be targeting him at all. Too much unwarranted hype surrounding him. I would value him about the same as Berglund.

... or Heatley! hahahaha
