Default Hall (Suspension)

"Hall suspended for 2 games."

I never saw the hit but was it the severity of the play? I don't think Hall has a previous record does he?

I'm an Edmontonian, and it was dirty hit in my mind. Drove his leg through the hit even when he saw that he wasn't going to be able to make solid should-on-shoulder contact. Was also a little late, and he had a full head of steam too.....could have been much worse. I'm actually amazed that it isnt season ending for Clutterbuck.

Here is a report via rotoworld:

Taylor Hall has received a two-game suspension for kneeing Minnesota Wild forward Cal Clutterbuck. Hall will be ineligible to play on Saturday and Monday as a result. Clutterbuck sustained at least a thigh contusion and the full extent of the damage isn't clear. Hall argued that his hit wasn't dirty and that he felt he hit Clutterbuck with his hip rather than his knee. NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan argued that one of the reasons this hit was worthy of a suspension was the fact that Clutterbuck never controlled the puck during the sequence in question.

It was, in the end, a predatory hit on a player that wasn't expecting it, made worse by the fact that the first point of contact (just barely) was Hall's knee to Clutterbuck's leg.

I have no doubt that Hall did not want to injure Clutterbuck, and the replays show a young player trying to make a big hit and not connecting the way he wanted to against a player that was supposed to play the puck but didn't and therefore wasnt expecting a hit.

I applaud Hall's effort to inject some physicality into his team as an Oiler fan, and I hope he chooses his spots in the future a bit better. I'm sure he'll learn from this experience.

I get what you mean but if he wants to hit he should be doing it to try to produce goals and win games, not way after the fact running around the ice looking for big hits.

I agree. If he incorporates regular hits into his game, he'll be a very dangerous player. I think he just made a bad split-second decision in this case.
