What are things looking like for ol Jakey Boy for next year? Possibly getting pulled up this year?

This year, I'm completely out of it (not listed below) Next year, we keep 3 goalies.

I'm sitting on Fasth(who knows what to expect from him), Howard (see previous), Bryzgalov, Dubnyk, Markstrom, Thomas (dark horse)

Is he solid enough for next year for me to start thinking about selling off my other goalies?

Got 6. Will lose 3.

I asked a similar question earlier in the goalie section (no responses either). I am banking on him starting next year. Theodore is signed this year only, and the Panthers are pooping the bed. I'm hoping Markstrom gets a few games this year.

From your set he wouldn't make my cut, I'd have Howard, Bryz and Dubnyk as my 3 with Markstrom as the 4th option. Personally if you could bundle a couple of your guys to get an upgrade that would be the route I would want to go, but it will depend on the market for goalies in your league.

This. He's keeper material, I would be looking to package one of Howard-Bryz-Dubnyk for an upgrade somewhere else on your roster and keeping Markstrom. He's struggled with consistency a bit in the AHL but the talent is there, and he's been very good in his limited NHL time.

We have had several Markstrom threads past couple months...

As far as it relates to your team, Id keep Bryz, Dubnyk, Markstrom and Fasth (or get what you can with Fasth)....

Howard is not solid and is under pressure from Gustavsson and Mrazek...

Thomas isnt worth holding let anouther manager take a 1 year gamble on him...

Fasth is in a murky situation in Anahiem... Hiller is there... Bobkov, Andersen, Gibson all decent prospects... If Fasth wins that battle it wound be long until he is under pressure again...


Bryz - people can say what they want, he is a top 15 starter in the NHL and when he is on, he is Elite

Dubnyk - is not overly great, but Edmonton seems to like him growing with the organization other than Luongo speculation all Oiler goalie trade talk is based on Backup or 1B options...

Markstrom - is expected to be the Starter with Florida next year... how good his #s will be is a questionmark... he may get a Recall due to nessecity, but I wouldn't bank on it management WANTS him to stay the full year in the AHL...

I would expect they are keeping him happy by getting him some games and auditioning him for next year.

I said over the off-season that I could very well see Markstrom finishing out the year as the Panthers #1.

Now keeping in mind that's with me being completely oblivious to any contract details or things that would benefit Florida keeping him down there all year.

I think Theodore could end up being traded with his expiring contract to a team looking for an experienced backup.

I'd say its an audition for rest of the year ive seen no injury or illness info either, and if it is, it completely goes agaisnt thier plan for him... Also just last week the coach was asked about the possibility of caling up markstrom where he said 'thats not going to happen'...

Markstrom owners rejoice! you may have a new starter....
