Some are more outdoor oriented in the Winter, but my fav aspect is Fri nights or Sat afternoon games, cold weather grillin and some good beer. Good times...

I just picked up a big bottle of Ballast Point Sculpin IPA as I member you guys speaking highly of it. Its in the fridge now and wont live to see the morning.

1) If it's good, but malty...it's old

2) if it blows your mind...it's fresh and one of the best IPA's in the world.

Not as high on the alcohol content as most Barleywines, only clocks in at 9.2, but it packs a good hop smack. Very piney hop, with a sweet malt backbone, and in the beginning a taste like rye crackers. That rye taste fades back into the overall flavor as it warms and breathes. Really recommend this one if your looking for something a bit outside the ordinary.

Man, I've tried the barleywines a few times now...even the 'hoppier' ones. I just can't get them. I wanna try them and like them. I'm the biggest hop freak out there, but I just can't get this style.

I didn't either until I tried this one. I don't know if it's this particular brew, or if my taste buds were just primed for it, but I'm digging it.

Their website says 104 IBUs, which is a friggin lot of hops. It looks to be well balanced tho as its a 1.085 OG. Must be a serious mouthful. Like a wallop in the gob. hahaha.
