Maybe someone can talk to this? From what I'm seeing the Av's blue line sucks big time and I'm being nice! 10 games in the bank, and the back end has contributed, in total, 7 points. I think Karlsson did that in his first game??? It's not like they are a winning games with a superior defensive system they are tied for dead last in the West. Hell, Ryan Wilson was the only bright spot and now he is on IR. Brutal. So, why is Elliot still in the AHL?

Stefan Elliott isn't on the team because he needs to learn how to play NHL defense. He really REALLY struggled in the AHL during the lockout and carried that over to training camp. Avs have a lot of D men with one-way contracts so its tough for him to get in. He's not on the team as of right now because he has a knee injury. Its way to early to give up, but he's not progressing right now as us Avs fans would like

Probably because he is having an awful year at the AHL level. Just eight points in 34 games, and while the Avs D isn't anything to write home about, the last thing they need is a soft, one-dimensional player on the back end. There are others who would warrant a promotion from the Lake Erie Monsters before Elliott, so don't hold your breath on seeing him suit up for the Avs this season.

Not writing him off completely, but his stock has taken a nosedive from a fantasy standpoint.

He hasn't been playing well this season. In the first 20 games in the AHL he had like 1 point. He's now at 8 points in 34 games, I believe with a minus 4. He hasn't been the best defenseman for Lake Erie and he looks to need more seasoning there to be honest. Barrie has been the better one lately and he'll be the one to continue to get call ups more often.

If he starts to produce then he might get the call, maybe after a few weeks. Right now I see him getting minimal ice time increasing slowly until he is back in game shape and symptom free

In case anyone cares, Elliott has been called up and already played for the Avs yesterday. No points in a little less than 13 minutes of ice-time.
