Coulombe was undrafted and is tiny (5\'9\" - 163lbs). Called up to the NHL in November, he averaged 13:37 TOI/g, but a whopping 5:01 on PP. His AHL stats don\'t foreshadow his being a PP QB, so I\'m curious as to what Vancouver saw/see in him to give him that much PP time during his call-up. Any ideas on his likely career path?

I think they gave him a real quick peak at the beginning of the season and during the preseason. Did some PP time if memory serves me and then boom off to the minors. I think he\'s a deep depth guy at best now..prolly off to europe next yr.

Even against a depleted Oilers roster down the stretch, Coulombe struggled mightily. Obviously a dangerous offensive player- a junior career of 229 points in 297 games attests to that- he\'s still far too small to be much of a threat in his own end, especially when he doesn\'t yet understand how to box a guy out. He was butter-soft to beat when pressured down low by any forward.
As Orrfan said, Europe would be a good choice for him. |
