I would go Faulk. I like his shot better. I also feel good about where he is in terms of growth. His team is further along and has better weapons for him to play with.

I have them both, and thought about this for a long time.

My conclusion: Same thing.

I have to disagree, I like Kulikov. The contract issues must have had an effect. He was not on the ice with his teammates for training camp and he was horrible the first five games after missing the first game of the season. It was obvious he was not in synch and may have been dealing with a knee injury.

Last season Kulikov was on the top PP, this year and he is just regaining that role. Kuba initially had been eating a lot of that time. I would expect Kulikov to regain his chemistry with Campbell and get closer to his 4:08 of PP time per game. There were also rumours that Dineen was unhappy with him because he was not in camp. This might explain the tough love and not being given the PP role.

This is his 4th year and Kulikov only scored 3 points in his first nine games last year, then went on to score 28 points in 58 games. I think he will exceed that this year and as he is 2 years further in development than Faulk, he is more likely to break out sooner.

I think the light went on last year for Kulikov and once he, his coach and the team forget about the contract issues, he will have a better opportunity and more likelihood of success than Faulk. (Then trade him for Faulk and an upgrade if you think Faulk exceeds Kulikov over the next 2 years)

Faulk for me, that's no slight to Kulikov, but Faulk to me just screams better.

I like his upside A LOT. So much so, I traded John Carlson for him straight up in a points format this weekend. Last season he wasn't even supposed to crack the Canes lineup as a 19 year old and ended up posting 8 goals in 66 games. He reminds me a lot of a young Dan Boyle and I wanted to get him now before the price tag is too steep and if I were you I would choose him over Kulikov for sure (and I like Kulikov). I think Faulk could be 46-52 in the bank within 2-3 seasons.
