Great read on NHL.com on his strong play so far this season. Very impressive start. I think one point that is a little bit understated in the article is how the captaincy has elevated his game. They say that he didn't miss a beat in that regard, but I just think that a clutch guy like him, winning a Conn Smythe, will do even better with a C on his chest.

I think it does. Sort of a passing of the torch, especially after Lidstrom's departure, I think Hank feels the need as a captain to transmit the Detroit philosophy. Less experience on this squad, kind of a mini-rebuild right now and he's embracing the task so far. I haven't seen much games from the Wings this year, but in the boxscores it looks to be working well between Brunner and him. Maybe some Wings fans could give us their impressions?
