So I'm missing that elite name (as of recently at least) on my roster and I really want Malkin to keep for years to come. I'm putting together a package for him and wondering what's fair. I actually don't mind overpaying for Malkin since I have some depth and I'm sure I can pick up a FA to make up for some of the points lost for whoever goes.

I'm thinking of offering H. Sedin + Vanek (selling high) for him... I would even be willing to throw in a #1 pick for next year on top of that.

I'd start without the pick. It'll get anyone thinking. Whether or not he accepts would depend on his keepers I'm guessing.

In a points-only league with only 4 keepers, Malkin is gold.

I think you can afford it too. Malkin will outscore Hank by more than the difference between Vanek and Eriksson/Purcell down the stretch (at least I'd gamble on it).

Ok, after offering him Sedin and Vanek, he said it was the best offer he's received so far for Malkin. He then countered and proposed Ovie and Sedin for Malkin and a 2nd rounder (after 4 keepers are selected). I thought that was a bit much and then said Malkin and Seguin instead. He's thinking about it now.

What do you think? I don't really wanna trade Ovie but if I do I want a keeper back in return. Seguin is sucking bad this year but he should pick it up...

But just to be clear, do I see a few posts up that the offer transformed again such that it's now Seguin instead of Sedin that will be paired with Ovie to get Malkin? If so, I like that deal EVEN BETTER and would happily pull the trigger with no regrets!

My first reaction for Malkin + a 2nd rounder wasn't too happy, but it sounds like you guys think its a good deal! For those wondering, a 2nd rounder is likely to be someone like Gaborik next year.

i wouldnt push too hard and end up having him think over this and decide to pull the trade off the table completely

getting the 2nd is more than fair imo

in a 6 team keep 4 i would trade sedin and ovechkin straight up for malkin
