I want to acquire Wheeler from a guy who is getting ready to throw in the towel this year. I think I have a decent shot at winning (or at least finishing in the money), despite losing Spezza.

I was thinking of offering my Weiss + 2nd round pick for his Wheeler.

Last year, second round picks at where I expect to finish included guys such as:

Silfverberg
Holtby
Kulikov
Nyqvist

Too much? Too little? Or just right? Rep for help.

Well, he's only 29 so not too bad for a keeper, IMO.

and wheeler is only 26 even better for a keeper

and i am sure you agree since you are targeting him

the only players on your team attractive to a rebuilding teams are players you likely dont want to move

rebuilding teams want seguin not weiss

It doesn't hurt to try.
