The guy wants to move Backstrom for Evander Kane and possibly tie in a winger/center combo to even out positions on our teams.

I have a ton of quality C's all ready but I need some assists and help in the +/- area. I'm not opposed to trading for Backstrom, but I don't know if it really helps my team at all.

He also owns Duchene, Semin, Ovechkin, Tarasenko, Landeskog, etc.

What do you think?

I'd rather own Backstrom. you have lots of depth at LW (and this will give you lots of depth at centre) so you can afford to move Kane. I like your centre options better now too. This opens up the opportunity for another deal with one of your other centres to find depth in other areas.

Even with the league categories being what they are? Kane will put up quite a few points, along with hits. Not only that, I'm not a strong believer in Washington these days.

To me, this is the biggest factor in whether you accept the deal or not. If your gut is unsure then perhaps it's best to hold off. Sure, Backstrom should be the better option in a vacuum, but in a one-year perspective (given your keepers) it might be closer given the settings.

With Benn back, Getzlaf and Giroux, I'm sure you'll pick up in assists.

I'm also the type of manager that doesn't like to make a move which will require a further move. You are stacked at centre, moreso than LW, so I'm not sure this will benefit you, even though the perceived better player is being offered to you. Who will you have to sit more regularly at centre if you accepted this deal? Positional eligibility could also play a part, but not sure who's eligible where depending on your provider (perhaps show this in your signature?). If you can move around players, maybe a 2 for 2 could work for balance and to ensure you are not sitting a productive player too often. This is important.

Honestly, looking at the way your team is structured and your league cats, Kane is more valuable than Backstrom. YEAH, I said it. You are fine at center. Having Backstrom would be nice, but not at the expence of Kane with your league cats. Say Backstrom outpoints Kane by 15-20pts, I can guarantee you that Kane will smash Backstrom in PIMs and HITS, outproducing Backstrom in your league by a noticeable difference.
