Default PC Gaming // DOTA2

Anyone play DOTA2? I tried DOTA1 back in the day on WC3...but was not a fan. My friends got me into it before XMAS and I now play it quite frequently.

I have some BETA keys for it if anyone wants to play it legitimately (they aren't common so I'd rather only give it to serious players). Steam randomly gifts them to Beta players...

Has a steep learning curve but it is pretty fun.

Plays like a 5v5 strategy/rpg/tactics game... overhead WC3/Starcraft view... heros level up and have spells and you can pick dif guys. Try to destroy the other team's base.

I wish..I used to play dota on wc3 but i don't have a computer/laptop that can support Dota2 without it being super choppy. Otherwise I'd be ganking noobs all day.

I played a lot of DOTA for WC3 too in University..

This summer I played some League of Legends.. Kinda the same idea, but free and pretty addicting.. You may just wanna spend your time smoking crack instead

Haha, I actually don't have a desktop at home. I got a laptop when I first started university but it was one of those brick-type Lenovo thinkpads. Then I replaced that when it started glitching out with a Toshiba that had an SSD but no graphics card.

Don't know a lot about technology..but I've been told I probably can't play it with an on-board graphics card. And I don't want to play bad enough to buy a whole new desktop lol. Though I DO really want to play =/

haha, I'm just teasin ya man...one of the bonuses of having a tech job is that they buy me a new top notch laptop every year so I'm spoiled

In general, yeah for gaming an on-board graphics is less than ideal, especially with the graphics cards they make these days (alone they're more powerful than the computers of a few years ago). Its fine for watching HD movies and stuff but with newer games you'll often get stuttering etc.

I guess the good news is that laptops are pretty cheap these days so hopefully you'll be able to get a new one soon

I would definitely be interested. I spent just over 3k on a ridiculously overpowered PC about a month ago (Asus Maximus Formula MOBO, i7-3770k, 32 gigs of RAM, GTX 680 X 2 in SLI, etc), and I have been looking to push the limits. Let me know what I need to do :-)

I actually have Steam on my laptop already, that was when I was contemplating giving Dota 2 a try on this thing.

But then my laptop got super super super hot and i was like forget this lol.
