Default Corey Perry to Ottawa this season or future?

Word is Perry is considering coming to Ottawa in the off season because of local ties. With Spezza down, maybe the Sens make a play for him now. Drafted by Bryan Murray in 03 and has family living here.

Just something to ponder. I'm not connected by any means.

I've read somewhere about Perry being interested in the Leafs because he is an Ontario boy... probably a Toronto area newspaper.
Frankly the Sens make more sense since a) they have more cap space next year, and b) they have a better team and at 27 do your really want to spend the next three (hundred) years as a part of a rebuild.

His trade value isn't great for the Ducks right now because he is a pending UFA so they probably will feel better keeping him for the season. If, however, the Sens were confident in re-signing him I can see that they'd have the assets to get Anaheim's interest (another advantage over the Leafs).

dont forget the sign and trade giving the sens an extra year on the contract might make him bring back more in a trade than past pending ufa deals might suggest
