I'm just going to throw this out there. Kessel, since he has come to Toronto, has scored 30, 32 and 37 goals and at the age of 24 and in his 6th season, had his first 80 point campaign finishing in the top ten in scoring. Now obviously Seguin is a very good hockey player but he is 21 and in his first year, he was about the same as Kessel in his first year....22 points to Kessel's 29. Now in Kessel's second year he had 37 points and Seguin had 67, so Seguin wins this one. But in Kessel's third year he started to pick it up scoring 36 goals. My point is, all this thank you Kessel stuff is a little premature imo. Kessel is 25. Seguin is 21. There is a possibility that Seguin turns out to be a better player than Kessel, but that remains to be seen. I don't think it's fair that Kessel gets so much grief for this trade. He's obviously doing what the Leafs hoped he would. Lets see how Seguin is in a year or two before you can really decide if he's better than Kessel or not.

Let's see...

He probably got repped by:
Leafs fans
Habs fans
Canuck fans
Buffalo fan (hi Bomm!)
Ryan Miller
... and anyone who finds Lucic and Thornton vaguely irritating (ie. everyone else)

Yeah, I think you might be right bondon.

I know he didn't get rep from John Scott, who is concerned for Thornton's well-being despite having no problem pounding his head repeatedly. Makes no sense but enforcers are not really smart people if you really think about it.

Except maybe Parros and his Princeton degree?

There is a certain cognitive dissonance involved in wanting to fight/beat/hurt someone but NOT cause them lasting harm. That said, you see it all the time in the MMA events... two bloody battered dudes hugging and shaking hands moments later.

MMA guys want to hurt each other because it helps win on judge cards or by stoppage. At least they're realistic about it unlike the NHL fighting cult where they pretend to themselves that the shots don't actually hurt. It just gives me a laugh when I read some of the enforcer quotes.

It's not just Seguin that has Bruin fans thanking Kessel (if that weren't enough) but the fact that we also received a no.1 D-man and future stud in Dougie Hamilton. It's the two franchise players that makes this deal so lopsided.

Let's try to keep the hyperbole to a minimum please. 2 good young players? Sure. Franchise players? Neither of them is even close to that at the moment. Hamilton has played a total of what? 7 games?

Everyone knows that Phil didn't broker this deal himself right? You should probably be thanking Brian Burke.
