No points last night but over 24 minutes TOI in an important tough fought game. I'm sold!

Anyone starting to lose some faith in him or you just chalking it up as he is young = will struggle? I don't know much about him, but got on the hype train with everyone else.

What do you mean exactly? He's not struggling, he's playing a ton. He's not going to put up points this year if that's what you mean.

Yeah he is getting big minutes and that is great, but I guess the points aspect is what I am concerned with. So bummer. I will give him more time though, just wanted to know what to expect. Thanks.

Is Brodin getting any TOI on the PP? Just wondering if anyone who is watching Minny games has some actual first hand knowledge on how he's performing. I understand that he isn't expected to put up points this year but I'm just looking at players to toss onto my watch list a this point ...the d pool in one of my leagues is super thin.

I'd have no problem taking him in a keeper but for this year I doubt we will see much value production wise from him.

The Wild are in the process of changing things up with their forwards and PP units to try and get their offense going. The top line clicked right away but has been not very good lately mainly due to Heatley's play which is why Coyle is most likely taking his spot on the first line tomorrow. Secondary scoring has been issue in this short season so far as well. So to sum up the offense really hasn't clicked yet for the Wild.
Brodin on the other hand has been the one very bright spot for the Wild. He has been great with the breakout passes helping the Wild forwards actually carry the puck into the zone, instead of dumping it in which they do waaaay to often. He also has been shooting the puck more lately and ripped one off the post in PHX the other day. He doesn't get much PP time, if he does it's on the 2nd unit but recently the Wild have been going with 4 forwards on each unit with Suter and Gilbert as the lone defenseman. You can tell the coaches trust him though with the SH minutes they have been giving him. He still makes some rookie mistakes but he hasn't had an overall bad game yet. If he continues to shoot the puck and if the forwards ever get their shit together there's a possibility he will put up some points but I really couldn't give you an accurate projection. One last thing is that Spurgeon is still injured and I am not sure what will happen when he returns but so far I would lean towards Brodin keeping his spot with Suter. |

GREAT POST above me. He deserves rep on that one. BTW, the one concern I can see with Brodin is a lack of size and strength, he can't really defend around his own yet but he's young and will likely get stronger.

Heavy ice time and an assist, even though his team was blown out. If you can still buy low on him in a dynasty or deep keeper league, do it. I think his TOI will only go up as the months and years pass by. Minnesota is going with a youth movement (not just him but also Granny, Coyle, soon Johan Larsson, Hackett etc).

I thought I'd revisit this thread for a selfish reason: Brodin is getting high praises but is this a case of a player being much better in real life than fantasy? I mean, looking at his numbers, he's never produced offensively, at any level. And it's not like his peripherals are that great either. He's a free agent in my league where we count G, A, STPTS, +/- and PIM. Do you guys see much value in him over the next 2-3 years? Can he produce 45-50 points with some STPTS.
