I have Marleau in two full keeper leagues. In both leagues, my Gs are a weakness (Niemi and Brodeur in one, Backstrom and Dubnyk in another).
Given his amazing start, who do you think I could reasonably get if I packaged him with a goalie? OR if not a goalie, what level of forward would you be looking for in exchange? Just trying to ascertain perceived value before I start making proposals. Thanks guys! |

No reasonable owner is going to pay for Marleau's current scoring pace (96G, 54A) obviously, but I would be tying to convince people that he's regained his point per game form, as opposed to the 65-70 point player he's been the last two years. As such I'd try asking for guys that consistently score in the 70-80 point range and see how their owners react.
Another possible strategy would be to use Marleau's fast start to try and pick up an elite player who's started slow - think Backstrom/OV. It really all depends on how savvy the owners in your league are, but I wouldn't be embarrased to send out a Marleau+ for Backstrom+ proposal.

Right now with Marleau I'd send out a bunch of crazy offers and see if anyone bites. Right now you will be able to justify Marleau offers for just about anything, without angering anyone.

Its definately the time to put Marleau in play and see of you can move him. I think you would have more luck targetting another position. Its so much easier for the other owner to compare a forward to a forward.
Let's face it, you are hoping that someone is going to bite on a guy that just doesn't have the value that he is prtraying. You are looking to sneak someone from him/her. I recommend muddying the waters more, look for a goalie or a Dman. You can always flip the goalie or a dman later if its a forward you need. I would also recommend making it a multi player deal to disguise things even further. Good Luck |

I must respectfully disagree. If I had Marleau I would want to move him this year, but I would be in no hurry to do so. He will not keep up this torrid pace, but all signs point to a PPG, top-end year. Enjoy the gravy train. Not only will it help you win this year, it will give you an even more valuable asset in 2 months time.
Unless you get a great offer, I'd wait for a while if I were you.
