Oh, my head...

Last night was decadent. No other way to describe it. Friends came over and we all went out for sushi. But prior to gorging sashimi platters, pork belly and bone marow, with bottles of vino and finished with hot saki, I had the following brews...

Dogfish Head 120 min IPA - effing awesome! Very bold. Very good.

Augustijn Grand Cru - bad choice to follow-up the above. It was the exact opposite of the IPA. Just blah....maybe I am growing to used to trips and quads. dunno.

Piraat Belgian Ale - nice. Better than the Augustijn that's certain - more body.

I supposed the 120 min IPA is a tough act to follow.

Bell's Smitten, a golden rye ale. First of its kind I've seen and an inspiration for future homebrewing. Some of my favorite aspects of different styles of beer all in one. Rye plus citrusy hops and a light golden color. Easy to drink a bunch of but sure as hell not boring. I give it an A.

Oh, I am so going to start dropping hint in re my birthday gift this year...

Not a huge fan of the Affligem, although it's available in bars here that don't charge north of $13 per glass, so I find it to be a relative bargain when drinking out. I do like that brune and dubbel, however. Good stuff for the "wintry mix" we're experiencing today, and either would make a nice celebration of the Caps' win at my first game of the year.
