He really did. He flat out stole a point for us tonight it's sad really the way the D was playing in front of him better than it was against Montreal but still not NHL quality D. IMO with both goalies having 2 games played Neuvy has looked better so far this season then Holtby I'll be interested to see how this dual plays out this season.

Picked him up prior to his first start vs. Montreal and was disappointed by that game - but now looks like he's staring his third straight.
So many folks said that this was Holtby's job to lose, and yet this disagreed with what other people were saying about there being essentially a time split. I personally hope he goes on a roll, as he has played very well in the past - prior to 'losing his job' to Holtby just because he was injured for a short time.

Thus far, it appears I was wrong last summer. But the answer is not yet clear. I still think Holtby will eventually get the edge, but Neuvy is back in the spotlight for now.

Neuvirth has always been very confident about his abilities and his deservedness (word?) to be the starter. Sounds like Oates in his NHL days.
The one guy that I felt was drafted WAY too high in most every pool was Holtby. Teams that drafted him early are feeling the pain in their leagues. It was too big a risk. Neuvirth is the more proven goaltender and Oates was a proven NHL player. This appears to be Neuvirth's team now. |
