Just because you maxed out early doesn't mean you did anything wrong... who's to say the result would have been any better if you saved those games till the very end? Many teams bench their stars towards the end after they've locked up a desirable playoff position as well.

Those are good points as well, thanks man. But I don't think I'll do that on purpose, especially if my players remain healthy, since I like playing until the end. Also, I like being under by one game before the last day so I can start everyone and have it count. Not as big a deal with my forwards but with five D that could help if close in categories. However, like you said, with injuries it may work out anyway so might as well play them for awhile anyway as it's not far off full season pace.
I'll likely use my one bench slot to get a backup goalie from time to time. I'll see how Kipper is used in the early part of the season to decide when to make that move. I doubt I'd be using Stajan (my current bench player) much at all, unless I am desperate for faceoffs won but not sure he'll give me much else. There really are very few other options available.
