Best thing about Bend....Beer! Deschutes is only 1 of at least 5 other awesome breweries in one of the most picturesque towns you could ever imagine. Fool the wife and tell her your bringing her on a shopping vacation...no sales tax and outlet mall galore. And don't forget to bring the golf clubs, bikes, hiking gear and sunscreen.

If you're really going to go....head there in the 3rd week of Aug and attend the Bend BrewFest. I've been there 3 years in a row and it is an unbelievable experience.

Awesome. And since I have no entangling alliances of the nuptial kind I can head out and not have to go to all that subterfuge.

As far as tonight goes, sitting here enjoying a bottle of Founders Porter, some garlic Naan, Lamb Samosas, and Lamb Vindaloo. I've been on absolute tear with the Indian food here recently, I just can't get enough. Anyway, food aside, lots of Union Jack and Jockamo IPAs on the drinks menu.

What are you guys drinking tonight?

Great food, indeed! But with that combo platter ya got going, you'll be able to peel the paint off your walls, if ya dig.

So while I am waiting on my first shipment of 12 belgians (from the beer of the month club Mrs Bomm signed me up), I am enjoying a Widmer Bros. Milk Stout.

Very nice, not as creamy as I expected, has an earthy note on the backend that I can't quite place.

I seem to have an iron constitution. I can eat that stuff all day long, and it doesn't cause me any problems at all. Give me a bag of soft tacos from Taco Bell though and run for the hills.....

And what I listed above was just my dinner. Introduced some friends to Indian cuisine....that was my mistake.....for snacks later I have some Shrimp Biryani, Chicken Jalfrazi and Bhuna, among other things. Needless to say some of my friends are heathens who don't understand, or appreciate, good food, but on the plus side I have some great snacking for later.

My buddies and I stash "roadbeers" by the postoffice so we can grab em after the game.

Might have to get this started a little early today.

Yup, just did it. What could be better to go with my Stone IPA than to sit down, watch Game 1 on CBC HD. Bring it on.

Cheers
