Sweet I'm lifted of the curse by not sharing any of your goalers!

As a serious change-of-discussion:
Three goalies that I expect to actually be "bad" this year:

1. Kari Lehtonen. The Dallas defense stinks.
2. Craig Anderson. The Ottawa defense stinks.
3. Evgeni Nabokov. The Islanders defense stinks.

It is unfortunate that I own Anderson & Nabokov in a couple leagues.
Really was hoping the defense was going to be better on those teams.
Yeesh.

I've actually been trying to trade Bryzgalov for Halak, and then flip Halak to the Elliott owner for Lehtonen. This post gives me pause. Is Dallas' D any worse off than last year?

They were not good last year.

Dallas has traded away Grossman to PHI last year.
They also traded away Fistric to EDM recently and Pardy to BUF in the off-season.
Souray left for ANA.

That's 4 of their top 7 from last year that are gone.
Goalies don't adjust well to new defensive groups.

When Ryan Miller had his terrible season following his Vezina, it was because BUF had lost Tallinder & Lydman, and perhaps another to free agency.
Myers was only in his 2nd year and he was completely lost out there without his D-partner.

Apparently, Dallas sees good things in their kids.
I don't know... we'll see.

Dallas also added older, softer forwards in Jagr & Whitney & Roy. And they let Ott go, who was defensively solid.
That might help their offense, but not their defense.
(Maybe they are just trying to sell tickets with offense???)

I think Dallas will be in several 5-4 and 6-5 games this year...

But Lehtonen was actually pretty good even with a crappy D in front of him.

His numbers have been steadily improving every year since he seems to have squashed the injury bug that used to plague him.

Dillon is good but you can't expect rookies to save your season.

Lehtonen is seriously underrated on these forums. He's one of those quiet guys who just delivers. He actually had a pretty good year last season despite how crappy you guys seem to think the Stars and their defense were. 32 wins, .922 sv% and 2.33 GAA - pretty damn solid.

I think their team has actually improved this year, so those numbers should at least stay the same or improve.

At least that's my hope considering I drafted Lehtonen in my cash pool!

Tell me, please... how exactly is Dallas defensively better this year?
Lehtonen's .922 was 6 full points above his highest .916... and well above his previous average of about .913.
And now Dallas is without 4 of those 7 defensemen from last year!!!

I'll make you a friendly wager that Lehtonen will be under .920?
Blinders, my friend... you're the horse that is wearing them.

Do us all a favour and have this conversation with yourself every day.

"Who should I start today?"
"Bryzgalov."
"You mean Bryzgalov and...?"
"No and. Just Bryzgalov."
"But Bryzgalov isn't playing today."
"Just Bryzgalov. Leave Varlamov and Quick on the bench."
"Is that your expert opinion Bondon?"
"That is my opinion yes."
"Ooooo-kay!"
