Ilya has had reasonable amount of time to get on the camp in time. The lockout has ended. Ratification is just the final formal process but for all purposes the lockout has ended.

Even still, the PA will ratify the CBA before this Sunday's KHL All-Stars game so Kovy again techically couldn't play it without the permission from his employer - New Jersey Devils.

So again you can't compare Ilya's and Pavel's situations.

if it was ended teams would be able to make trades and sign contracts and coaches would be able to be there with the players

none of that is the case because the lockout is not over

Fine. But the lockout will still have ended before this Sunday's All-Stars Game in KHL. Thus Kovy will have legal obligation to NHL and New Jersey Devils and his deal in the KHL will have expired as it was done only for the duration of the lockout.

it isnt being reported that kovy is playing in the all star game without permission

its being reported that since kovy hasnt come back to new jersey it means he doesnt intend to fulfill his contract with the devils

datsyuk hadnt come back either and that article you post is from yesterday well after reports about kovalchuck staying put have come out

yet not a word about datsyuk staying over there prior to that

Kovy has given comments like "it can't be ruled out" when asked about staying in KHL even after then lockout ends. That's why it's being reported that way. As far as I know Datsyuk hasn't given such a comments?

Besides I believe Malkin is still in Russia too. But he hasn't given any indication of nothing coming back in time for camp so what's there to report about that? Just like with Datsyuk.

if all of these guys got together to discuss their future the reports of them not being back here yet should all be treated equally as far as i am concerned

I thought the real issue was the Kovy wants to stay in the KHL for THE REST OF THE SEASON. It's not about the All-Star game, it's about the KHL/NHL season.
