Agentspeak. As long as he is hurt, he will continue to collect his usual pay. I'll eat some crow if he is still out if/when a January start occurs.

But really, I wouldn't even mind having him on IR for the start of the season because that would mean we are actually witnessing an NHL season.

Gotta love conflicting information. A real roll of the dice for someone acquiring him for this year.
Lockout could continue. He may comeback right after it ends. He may really be months out before returning.

Wonder what his peers think if indeed his actions are to ensure he continues to collect a pay cheque.

According to Fantrax here is an update on his condition...doesn't look promising.
Ryan Kesler's agent, Kurt Overhardt, didn't provide an encouraging injury update for Vancouver center's return from off-season shoulder and wrist surgeries. "The re-evaluation was positive in that the surgeries were successful," said Overhardt. "However, the compounding nature of both of those surgeries being on the same side of the body, it's been very hard to properly rehab either one of the them - particularly the shoulder - because that's obviously a big deal. I don't think it's fair to have any sort of time frame when he's going to be 100 percent and cleared to play. I don't have a crystal ball and it's certainly months away, it's not weeks away. It's several months away." Canucks assistant GM Laurence Gilman said that Kesler being months away from medical clearance was "news to [him]," but he also didn't have a timetable available for when Kesler would be fully recovered. If the NHL gets a shortened season in the near future then drafting Kesler could be very risky, as it doesn't look like he will be ready any time soon.

just watched an interview with Gillis… said he expects Kesler to start practicing with the team as early as next week, and booth to follow shortly after.
kesler has been skating on his own for a while now

I'm concerned about the effect the injury will have on his strength in his wrist/shoulder given the nature of the injury...
