I was thinking the exact same thing. We are expecting 15-20cm's of snow this weekend on the East Coast.

Ahh summer days and cold beer around the BBQ, how I long for those days. Now its just standing around the BBQ hoping the GD steaks cook quicker because its cold out there.

"Honey, I think they're done but my hand went numb twenty mins ago."

lol...so true. I grill in any weather, but the lazy hazy days of Summer are def my fav. Although the cool crisp Fall-football weather is a close second.

Blvd Sixth Glass Quad and Animal House...ftw

What? Over? Did you say over? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

Germans?

Forget it, he's rolling.

Guess what?!?

Hertel Ave. beer merchant has a buy-one/get-one sale on four packs of Dogfish Head Chicory Stout. So guess who has two thumbs, a smile, and eight yummy bottles of said beer?

Me.

Also grabbed a Lagunitas Little Sumpin', and a big boy of Chimay Grand Reserve (Blue).

Probably have that one tonight.

Going to try this Sam Adams New World Tripel. Hopefully it will be better than their Thirteenth Hour Stout. That one was really disappointing. Thin bodied, over carbonated, and all the best flavors of a stout where really subdued. Ah well they can't all be winners.

Aside from that SA Tripel, probably finish a few of the singles that I have left over. Some 80-Acre, Bob's 47, Tank 7, Tumbler, among others. And I still have a half-gallon of Irish fortified nog.....

I would consider the DF-H Chicory a thin bodied stout as well. Not overly carbonated, but def thin bodied - as far as stouts go.

I may have erred slightly by noting the thin body on that SA stout. That by itself really isn't that bad, it's the total combination of body, carbonation, and weak flavors. For example the carbonation was more like a can of Coke than like a beer. And it's like the malt and hops walked through the wort on stilts.

Also my take on stouts as it pertains to body is somewhat slanted. I do drink more Russian Imperials or American Doubles. Compared to Blvd Dark Truth, Great Divide Yeti, or North Coast Old Rasputin most stouts will come across as thin bodied. I do enjoy Milk Stouts such as Tallgrass Buffalo Sweat, or Oatmeal Stouts like Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout, both of which are light bodied but pack good flavor.

Hey, how is that milk stout? Saw one on the shelf today and almost grabbed it, but my hands were full (and wallet empty).

I like 'em, they're a good change of pace. When I'm wanting a stout but not wanting a hefty shot of alcohol they really hit the spot. Do you happen to remember the name of the one you saw?

Unfortunately, no. Smaller dark bottle but that prob doesn't narrow it down...lol.
I'll make a note for next time.
