Anyone here watch the Marlies this year and have thoughts on this kid? His stat line is great (I believe that he is at 9 points in 8 games now) and he was fantastic at the University of Maine but size is always a question with these type of players. Does he have a legit shot at playing for the Buds in the next 3 years or is he AHL4Life?

Depending on the size of the league you can stash him away on your farm and hope for the best. I think his odds are less than 50% like most other undersized players but in a deep league you're better off swinging for the fences than investing in a mediocre depth prospect.

^ I totally agree with this. Sound advice, Eric.

I've watched him very closely this year... he is currently bumping legit NHL prospect talent, to the press box... Part of the reason for his production is that when they are rotating players, he gets bumped onto legit scoring lines with Naz Kadri, Ryan Hamilton (mostly), Keith Aucoin and Mike Zigomanis...

He was 6 games, 9 points before he went 0-fer this weekend...

As Eric said he is small, but he brings a creative element to the game and hard work... He had 2 assists 2 weeks rentago both on Ryan Hamilton goals, both passes were created by hardwork, and feathered ill advisidly (and amazingly) through defenders to reach the mark... Very impressive...

He needs to sustain production as a regurlar in the lineup before you want you give him fantasy consideration... We see this quite often in the AHL that a non regular has a burst when he jumps in, they fizzles off to be an unknown again... As I stated, his linemates have more to do with his #s than himself...

But good to see people are noticeing these things....

It's all about perspective. In most leagues he is not worth owning. The only scenario that works is large leagues with farm rosters. He will most likely fail but if he is a hit he will be a good hit. I prefer taking a chance on Abbott than, for example, Jerry D'Amigo.

Thanks for the insights fellas, the league has over 1000 players on rosters between NHL and prospects so if guys can find hidden gems it does make a difference.

I highly doubt Abbott will have any fantasy value
