i wish someone with a good knowledge of stats would do an analysis of forward and defence consistency over the years because it seems to be the consensus here that forwards are, in fact, more consistent... yet there is no data to back up the claim.

As you can see, he values AP very highly and as mentioned above with his roster he clearly doesn't want to rely on Chara as his only top end D.

Easy reject, and I think you forget about AP and move on.

You are trying to by on a proven product at it's high point in value. Seriously, unless Pietrangelo takes it up another level going for 60+ in the next full season his value will never be higher than it is right now. All you know is that he's 22 years old coming off a huge breakout season so the assumption is "sky's the limit". Clearly that's where this guy sees Pietrangelo. Remember how valuable Doughty was after he dropped that 60-point season? Now look at him as just one of several pieces needed to acquire the not probably better Pietrangelo.

Time to start doing some shopping on the lower end of the market and pick up some stocks (players) that haven't fully matured.

Walk away from AP. There isn't much sense buying into him at such a sky high value. You are basically paying a Karlsson-esque price. Buy into someone that is a bit cheaper with lots of upside.

Your fellow GM clearly values AP highly, and wants to take you out behind the woodshed before letting him go.
