I agree. Imo, one of the best eps ever!! Damn this show keeps getting better. LaGuerta keeps poking her nose. No doubt she'll be on Dexter's short list.

Quote:
Last night's episode was great, developmentally at least, but it wasn't my favorite episode of the season. Certainly not complaining though. But shit, I hate Laguerta. I don't care if Dex gets caught, because that's the logical solution, but I just don't want it to be Laguerta. |

yeah not a ton of action, but it was still a great episode. This and season 4 have to be my favorites.
I think LaGuerta goes to Deb saying she thinks it's Dexter, Deb kills her, and now that the cat is out of the hat and Dexter knows Deb loves him they run off at the end of the season together because Mathews and everyone will be looking for them. Best quote from last night, "I'm the Avon Lady." |

Great episode.
Last season was clearly the weakest of them all, but I think season 7 is shaping up to be in the top 2 or 3. What a difference a solid cast of bad guys can make, right? I think that's the biggest difference in the improvement - Isaak is simply terrific while Travis last year was simply awful. And I also like Jason Gedrick as George... a very capable pinch hitter in the bad guy department. Isaak can't be in every scene, after all. And Hannah McKay - one word - WOW. Both as an actor and eyecandy. She's just stunning and her evil side is so magnetic. They really did a great job of cultivating her relationship with Dexter. My only disappointment is that they brought back the incestuous story. It was totally unnecessary. The proponents of the story say Deb wouldn't have protected Dex when she found out about his darkness (if she hadn't fallen in love with him last season) . That's BS. A sister could just as easily have covered things up for her brother and lied etc. The love angle makes no sense. Unless they are slowly building Deb up to be an emotional headcase who eventually kills herself. In fact, that's my prediction for her - suicide. Dex can't kill her after all. He can't kill LaGuarta either. For the same reason he couldn't kill Doakes. |

Poor Dex... he is finally able to feel love like a normal person and you just know this is going to end very badly for him. Hannah is pretty much the perfect woman, except for that little part about being evil to the core, deep down inside. Might not even be her fault, but she is trouble. I can't wait to see how this plays out.

Im interested to see where it goes from here. The fact that Isakk is done makes me kind of worried that I already know the outcome but I hope they can throw me off just like they did with having Isaak gone so early.
We shall see.

Very interesting that they finally chose to (officially) severe Dexter's "code" as I assume that means chaos and unpredictable behaviour will ensue. The code has been his harness for many years, the only thing really keeping him from killing randomly to satisfy his urges.
The timing of this disconnect is certainly convenient too, with Mathews and Laguerta closing in on him. It's very clever actually, because they (the writers) can go in so many different directions now. The most important mandate within the code is to never get caught. But if he isn't a slave to his code anymore, perhaps eventual surrender and execution is Dexter's fate. It's somewhat possible now and was pretty much unthinkable up until last night. If it wasn't for Harrison and the stepkids, I could even view this as a realistic possibility. But all things considered, surrender has to still be considered a longshot. Another mandate was to only kill those who deserved it. But, again, now with the code gone, Dex could very conceivably turn into the monster we no longer feel empathy for (if, for example, he killed any or all of Deb, Laguerta, Mathews, or the witness who could put Hannah in jail). After all, he IS a serial killer. At some point, is the destination not for us to feel repulsed by this person? Maybe that's been the strategy all along - make us really like this guy and cheer for him... only to hate him as the story nears its conclusion. It will take some solid writing and acting to pull it off. But I'm really curious to see how this plays out over the remaining 14 episodes. That's all that's left!!! Sigh.
