Obviously that wouldn't work (and their team would be soft as butter).
The Ducks are fine with what they have. They don't need a Schultz or Gardiner. They need big, two-way D now to compliment their offensive D. |

Lindholm pick was super-criticized at the time, but shit it's looking to be a good one at this point.

1. Much like Spezza in 04-05, Schultz is playing in an AHL strengthened by players who should be in the NHL but aren't due to the lockout. Spezza, Cammalleri, EStaal in 04-05, along with a plethora of other guys who would go on to have very nice NHL careers. Nice list from PPP: http://www.pensionplanpuppets.com/20...res-in-the-ahl My point is that success this year in the AHL is a much better indicator of future NHL success than any other typical year in the AHL. 2. I mean, he's a rookie defenseman leading the AHL in scoring. I know he's playing with a pretty good group of vets, but that's still danged impressive. And I know its early in the season, but come on. Over the past year or so, I've read countless threads on Justin Faulk, Brendan Smith, Tyson Barrie, Jake Gardiner and how they'll all likely be bigtime NHLers down the road. Schultz is blowing them out of the water right now. He's gaining invaluable time with the Big Three, particularly on the power play. I think this kid is VERY legit. And I own him in two leagues, so I am in no way whatsoever biased. ![]() But I really do think he's legit. |

Honestly, I'd be more impressed with what Schultz is doing if he wasn't playing on a team with Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent Hopkins and Jordan Eberle. Just saying.
However, I still have no doubt he'll become a key contributor for the Oilers, if the Edmonton Oilers ever play hockey again.

4 points through 2 periods today. Unbelievable pace - 29 points in just 18 games so far.

This kid might wind up being an incredible defensemen in the Orr/Lidstrom mold. He is pretty dominant in the A right now and I believe the hype is justified. I watched his college games and some of his AHL games and have no doubts he will be special at the NHL level, that is if hee ever gets to play there.

It's a mile too premature to go comparing this guy to either of those guys. ![]() He is showing some pretty special skill in the AHL though. I can only imagine how ticked off the brass in Anaheim must be right now. They lost this kid and got absolutely nothing in return.

Should have been obvious to most that Schultz would likely break 40 pts. I even made a thread about it after he signed with Edmonton. 28 pts in 18 games so far? LOL. 40 easily.

He's already halfway to Wade Redden territory, I mean come on!
If he can get 80 points in the AHL and Redden got 45 in the AHL and Redden got 50 points in the NHL then basic math tells me his rookie season should ballpark around 90 points or so. Of course this is being conservative since Schultz is on pace for well over 100 points right now, but I don't want things to get silly here... |
