I just read this on twitter. Too funny:

https://mobile.twitter.com/PaulBromb...4551048192?p=v

"John Farrell feels like the guy that ran into his EX who looks amazing, has lost 30 lbs and is now "trying new things " #Jays"

Poor John Farrell. Who am I kidding, good riddance.

I'm a huge fan of this signing either way. Could be a bargain.

Looks like the deal is done, Cabrera just needs to pass his physical.

This is the easy part, Melky.

I wonder where they put him in the lineup. Ideally I'd like to see him at 3 or 6. But the same can be said for Lawrie.

Let's go crazy here.

1. Reyes (speed+contact)
2. Bonifacio (speed+contact)
3. Lawrie/Cabrera (contact+ some power)
4. Bautista (power power power)
5. E5 (power power power)
6. Lawrie/Cabrera (contact+ some power)
7. Rasmus?
8. JP?
9. Whoever is DH'ing or Izturis?

The tweets I have been reading all seem to say that the Jays have found their new #2 hitter. Most of the "experts" have him pegged to be hitting in the #2 slot. Tough to say. Maybe in the #5 spot. He's a switch hitter so that offers flexibility to break up two right handed hitters in EE and Bautista but I doubt they will not hit back to back. Thats why I can see him hitting 5th. He's not a big power hitter (20 hr potential) but he hits the ball well for avg and will put the ball in play a lot.

Personally I liked Rasmus and Lawrie near the top of the order. I thought they had a lot of success there last year. Rasmus definitely hit better when he was up near the top of the order. Same could be said for Lawrie.

I think it's more likely we see something like this:
1. Reyes
2. Cabrera
3. Bautista
4. Encarnacion
5. Rasmus
6. Lawrie
7. (DH)
8. (Catcher)
9. (2bag)

This of course is assuming that the jays don't move any of their current roster...which I'm pretty sure they will at some point. Could flip Lawrie and Rasmus around but yeah.

St. Louis has the best lineup in baseball IMO, but the Jays are top-5 now.

Pretty impressive.

I dunno, toss him into that (DH) spotas a maybe. I've seen a lot of people project Encarnacion to be the DH and Lind to be the 1B but for the life of me I don't understand the reasoning for that. Encarnacion has been solid since moving over to first and looks a lot better there than Adam 'I can't play defense or hit left-handed pitching' Lind.

Make Lind compete for playing time as far as I'm concerned.

Wow. The Jays are active. It seems like they're making a push.
