Cool thanks for the advice. Korpikowski and Winnik are on the FA wire, I suppose I could replace Higgins with one of them. Laich may be another good target.

I would target Laich far before Korpi or Winnik. He's just a better player.

Lol I still think that Henrique is easily the best choice here. He and Parise get shorthanded opportunities because they play shorthanded together and they both have a ton of speed and can break out on those two-on-ones. Best of all it won't cost much to get him. If you think that Henrique isn't good enough at filling your other categories have you seen Winnik or Korpikoski's stats?
If you don't believe me then check out some of the highlights. Edit: and yeah SHP do suck lol. Last edited by bondon; 01-26-2012 at 05:19 PM. |

I could drop Higgins for Korpikoski, but I'd have to trade someone for Henrique. Not sure who he'd even take, he already paid a lot to get him.

1. Laich
... ... 2. Winnik 3. Korpikoski Another tool I like it to go to thehockeynews.com and look at if these players are getting PP-time. Laich is top 5 with Washington... so he'll get you some PPP as well. Winnik & Korpi don't get any PP-time. I can't believe Laich is available in a 20-team pool. (!?!) |

Yea Laich is my #1 target. I should clarify, he's not a FA.

I realize this is an old post, and for the most part the information within is good.
1. Don't chase SHP 2. SHP is better suited to H2H rather than roto I won a pool a few years ago thanks to Marian Hossa (Thrashers), who played all situations (mainly due to depth issues) and was a stud in all H2H categories. You need to identify these types of situations. If you missed out in the draft, then it's time to swap one of your star players with one that gets PK minutes. If it's a daily start league, and you've got a big bench - you could consider a PK spe******t as long as he doesn't have schedule conflicts with your keepers. Central and Pacific divisions usually have an offset schedule (playing more Tues/Thurs/Sun games). Cheers, Jer

SHP is always going to be something that really shouldn't be chased and just isn't suited to any league format. It's just not a stat that is easy to track.
Looking back to the lockout, only two player's ever broke 10 short handed points: Martin St Louis and Eric Perrin and both did it years ago. Heck, only a handful more broke 8 points in a single season. It's just not a common stat and really doesn't fit well in most league setups. Unless it's a head to head points league or points league that counts special team points differently, it's a very hard to use stat. even in leagues where it works, it's largely an irrelevant stat.
