An interesting twist to the buyout. Bay to receive the full value of his contract. Dont see that often.

https://twitter.com/JonHeymanCBS/sta...54574896164865

"bay will receive the $189 M he is owed from #mets as part of the arrangement, $16M '13 salary plus $3M '14 buyout."

$189 million?! What?! I just read this:

"Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that Bay will receive the $21 million remaining on his contract, including $16 million in 2013, $3 million on a buyout for 2013 and $2 million as part of a deferred signing bonus. "

He played left field for the Mets, didn't he? Oh god...he played LEFT FIELD!

Alex Anthopoulos says Blue Jays will spend in off-season: ‘We have to get better’

Anthopoulos said he is content with the core players he currently has in centre field, right field, third base, shortstop, catcher, backup catcher, and DH/first base.... So left field, second base and the other half of the DH/first base equation are still to be determined."

DON'T DO IT, ALEX

Honestly, I wouldn't be too worried about that. I find that in cases like this, since the guy is already getting paid boatloads of cash, they focus more on where they'd rather play. So if he in fact wants to return to Canada to play...then he'll probably sign a team-friendly contract. However I find it more likely that he chooses to sign somewhere that may be closer to family/more preferred climate.

I cant see many teams offering him big money. The best he will probably get will be a minor league deal with a tryout for the bigs. His career has gone so far downhill, I just dont see him getting much more then that. He will have to prove his worth and earn his way back to the bigs.

I may be wrong, but this is what I expect to see for him going forward.

I'm wondering if Seattle has any room for him. He wants to play on the West coast...lives in BC. Close enough.

You could very well be right. He'll probably get opportunities though to show his worth.

That's exactly what I was going for with my line of thinking. He's already going to be making a boatload of $$, $ won't be his ultimate deciding factor. Could see it paying off for Seattle too if they signed him as a lot of B.C. folks make the road trip to Seattle to watch baseball.

I know Seattle plays Trayvon Robinson in LF. He's been doing pretty well with it too I think? But I try and stay away from watching those games if possible :P
