I would take McDonald, the lockout will help him get healthy heading into next season.

Andy Mac for me. Hudler is a distant second (assuming good health for McDonald), then SK.

I also wonder what your WW looks like, though I would imagine SK and Hudler aren't huge upgrades over waiver-type guys. McDonald, on the other hand, has serious potential and it's only a matter of whether you can stomach the injury risk - which is substantial.

I would roll the dice, but just remember to be ready to grab someone from the wire if/when Andy Mac goes down at some point. But with a shortened season, and increased rest, you could conceivably get lucky and get close to a full sked from the guy. Who knows? That's why we play.

Cheers

I'm just about to drop Anisimov for my waiver pick.. Wanted to make sure Mcdonald was still the best option..Found a couple more options. Here's the list available..

1. Mcdonald
2. Hudler
3. Kostitsyn
4. Burmistrov
5. Brassard
6. Dubinsky
7. Prospal
8. Peverley
9. Smith
10. Atkinson
11. Vermette
12. Hornqvist

I need points only for this year.. None of these players will be keepers for me.

Honestly, when you're at that stage where you're looking at a bunch of 40-50 point guys I'd just shoot for upside and go with Andy McDonald.

If you have IR spots or you can drop guys if they become injured and snag someone else, then it's Andy McDonald by a long shot for me. If you are stuck with him taking a roster spot all year if he gets hurt, then I'd probably look elsewhere, probably at Hudler just because his contract will make Calgary put him in a position to earn it.

We have 1 waiver pickup every week.. I would lose the points of the player i drop and the new waiver starts at 0.

Last year i found Hartnell on the waiver after he already had 12 points, so I dropped McCarthur for him. At the end of the year he was one of my top 12 counters even without the first bunch of points.

I just dont enjoy looking at Andy Mcdonalds Hockey db.. Its scares me off..

I would go with McDonald because his track record is better, but IMO experience with Hitchcock is anything he says he changes sometime during a season so I'd take anything he says with a large shaker of salt...Hudler did well with good teammates last season, but I agree we just do not know how he will transition in Calgary and what that team is going to do...

I'd take Sergei.

Sure he's inconsistent and his motivation might be questioned at times but with respect to the latter I feel like a line was drawn in Nashville during the playoffs last year with the Radulov situation and Sergei didn't cross that line even when his brother did.

He's a high skill player who's a natural playmaker and a decent scorer too. If Nashville ever gets more offensive (Trotz is a great coach and has been known for being defensive but great coaches can adapt and work with what they're given), and they could become more offensive because the team is always changing with new blood coming in. They have guys like Ellis on the back end replacing the likes of Suter.

Meanwhile Hudler is on a crap team playing with mostly nobodies and Babcock must have disliked him for a reason. I don't envision him 'suddenly flourishing' in Calgary. Andy McDonald is a joke, don't get me wrong I love him in real life but I would never bother to own him in fantasy. I don't think I need to even explain my reasoning with regards to him.

Kostitsyn
Hudler
McDonald

Looking at the list you provided I'd almost consider just drafting Dubinsky and see if he starts hot like every other year, then trade him.

Vermette I would also consider. He had a strong playoffs and Whitney leaving they are going to need people to step up and fill that void offensively.

I need a 50-60 point guy. And I do t think there are any gaurenteed guys on that list. I may be better off with Pitkanen for a defender.
