once they get to the nhl a lot of guys get the wings added to them. again the commish should be able to change that for you though.
i dont see him getting top 6 this year but definantly beyond that i do.

Who would be his competition for a Top 6 role, lets look at that. Dats, Zetts, Franzen, Filppula, Bertuzzi, Cleary seem the logical options...

Last season, Frozenpool shows Dats played w/ Franzen & Bertuzzi 35+% the highest % for him....

Zetts, OTOH, played similar % with Filppula again the highest % for him

Cleary played on both the Dats and Zetts line off/on as well...

So, I think the biggest issues are whether Bertuzzi & Franzen continue to claim top 6 time and what Cleary's role is i.e. does he play 3rd line with Helm & Abdelkater or will he move up again...

The dark horse is Brunner who has been playing with Zetts during the lockout and doing pretty well...they could be kept together at least initially

Either way, he is positioned to settle into a top 6 role sooner then later. He may start the season out in a top 9 spot but should slide onto that 2nd line before long.

I don't think there is even a question about Franzen in the top 6. He is the top line winger on this team, it's more of a question if Zetts/Dats will play together with Franzen on one line or each of them center a line.

Nyquist has been working on goal scoring and shooting, which is showing so far in his AHL play. I guess I'm saying the way he's improving right now, he would fit nicely on the LW on line 1A/B passing to or feeding Datsyuk/Zetterberg

Oh for sure! I just think he'll be more assist heavy than the other two because old habits die hard. He's smart enough to know when to shoot. After all, Crosby learned to shoot more. I think Nyquist's tendency to shoot more now might get him 30 goals instead of 20. Just not quite enough to reach 40.

I'm loving what I've seen from him so far in the AHL this year. Stronger, even more confidence, I have him on my keeper team, I'm a Wings fan and we're from the same town here in Sweden

You better believe it, I love what this kid is doing as the NHL lockout continues.

He is playing great for the Griffins and showing Detroit that he's ready to be in the NHL.
