Goldy, he's just a much better hitter at this point.

Hosmer looked awful this season, meaning he needs to really work on his game in the off-season.

Very talented, but his approach needs to improve before I take him over Goldy.

Yeah, the numbers point towards Goldy here but I'm not giving up on Hosmer's massive potential. I'm calling last year a stumbling block in what shoud be an All-star career.

Play if safe if you want but I'm going with my gut and taking Hosmer here.

Goldschmitt has massive potential to! He's only 25 and he just hit .285 with 20hr and 86rbi. That's not bad for a softmore who was on a crap team. I keep hearing about the potential of hosmer but I'd put my money on schmitty

Goldschmitt played on a significantly better team than Hosmer did! KC scored a total of 676 runs to Arizona's 734. Furthermore, Hosmer put up very similar numbers in his rookie season as a 21 year old to what Goldschmitt just did as a 25 year old (this is a significant stat when comparing the keeper potential of two players). The 'potential' people see in Hosmer is not imagined, he's already given us a taste of what could be to come. Last season was a trainwreck but he did show signs of life in the 2nd half so there is reason for optimism heading into 2013. For those who give heavy weight to the 'what have you done for me lately' arguement then take Goldy by all means. I've learned that sometimes a bit of patience with elite prospects can pay off in spades and one garbage year should not scare people off too much. Or maybe I'm underrating Goldschmitt......what sort of potential do people think he has?

Hosmer, 2 years younger
Hosmer, a fluke .255 babip
Goldschmidt, a .340 babip
Goldschmidt w/k ratio isn't close to Hosmers

Hosmer has higher potential, the question is will he reach it? Goldschmidt is no old man, but I'd take the risk of Hosmer personally.
